@Riot Lore Team - Can we talk about the Rock?

No, I don't mean this Rock http://imgur.com/EsQ4s7y

I mean this Rock http://imgur.com/QQDLy8B

Now I get that he might be an easy candidate for "Scary rock elemental" but that is a niche shared with him by both Maokai and Zyra. Zyra is more of a parasitic, hostile takeover side of nature, while Maokai is more the vengeful Treant whose forest has been violated. Maokai was, is, and hopefully will be the one Nature elemental that wanted to help and work with humans, in order to help them find balance and order.

Now what does that mean? This means that Malphite, unlike other earth types, actually wants to help humanity ascend our brutal beginnings and become a respectable, orderly society with balance and peace. This is despite being forcibly ripped from his people and way of life by humans to help them solve said politics. While the others turned hostile against the humans, Malphite was the rock (hue) that the humans clung to in order to help them seek a higher purpose and way of life.

This was, however, no small thing to Malphite. Humans live a very different, disjointed life compared to Malphite's kind. He became increasingly lonely and self searching the longer he remained with the Humans, and further and further from his old way of life. He began to become his one entity, no longer simply a part of the hive. This begged the question that as much as he wanted to, would he ever be able to go back?

These are the core aspects that I feel Malphite needs to retain in order to remain the same Malphite at heart:

  1. Seeks to help Humanity find Order and balance, not only with themselves but the world around them.

  2. Not initially familiar with the concept of individuality.

  3. Very balanced and ordered internally. This can mean many things, but particularly able to process logic and is generally self aware are key points of this.

Their lack of communication and complete destruction of existing characters quite frankly disgusts me. However, I don't feel they know how to do it any other way. I feel the only way to improve the relations that the Lore team has with the players is to step up and educate them.

So, I thought I would try by example, and reach out to both the Community and the Lore Team to discuss a champion that will have to change due to OTHERWORLDLY SUMMONING SYNDROME. Hopefully, both sides can come to the table and peacefully discuss how to to salvage the core of the character while understanding that there is no more IoW.

Now, I hope that is a good starting ground for discussion, with my point of view. I hope this can be a place where both sides can come, and without judgement, discuss what and who Malphite is and should be.

Pryotra out.

Well his other world origin is probably going away,so I could see him being a natural earth elemental. He might actually be one of the oldest champs in the game since it was hinted that brand(who is a fire elemental) is one of the most ancient beings in the world.

I agree though that he should remain rather....nice. He doesn't need to be evil or chaotic, although he obviously doesn't need to be a pacifist.

He could be connected to all the land, which could mimic his current lore, where he was connected to his whole world and that he might appear when the land takes too much damage or something like that to help to protect it.

When it comes to malphite I feel like his personality is probably similar to groot from Guardians of the Galaxy, except with a bit more intelligence. I also really appreciate his friendship with maokai and it would be funny for both of them to go to a bar together.

I kind of wish his voiceover reflected his personality as a gentle giant a bit more though.

You make some excellent points throughout the post, and I agree with much that has been added in the comments (i.e. he shouldn't seem so angry all the time, he should be a primal force of nature, etc.). I'm also with you as far as the lore team's current direction of things. I hate it. With that said, I feel like your introduction comes across as a wee bit too hostile to attract any rioters (not that any venture to Story and Art in the first place). Your input and that of the others here is too valuable to not be seen. I'm not suggesting you hide your contempt for the lore team or anything. Maybe just try to sound a little less condescending? You could easily move that intro to the end, as it would make a wonderful conclusion to your post. I hope things go well for you here!
