I'll be honest: I'm a bit let down by the new J4 & Swain skins

PLEASE READ MY WHOLE EXPLANATION BEFORE DOWNVOTING OR WHATEVER BECAUSE I KNOW PEOPLE WILL DO SO JUST FROM THE TITLE!

So the latest upcoming skins are Dragon Master Swain and Dark Star Jarvan and I want to briefly post about them before getting on some homework.

First off, Dragon Master Swain. Do not get me wrong: I'm completely happy that Riot created this skin finally. It's something that people have been asking for years but got cancelled, Swain is over 2000 days without a new skin, there is no more perfect opportunity to bring this out and make fans happy (possibly to distract with how shit the game still is currently, but I digress and off-topic).

Here's the thing: with such a fan requested skin and the fact that Swain got a huge rework, which means his voice actor was with Riot for a pretty good time, why didn't they make this skin a legendary? Again, I'm grateful that it finally got made but I can't help but feel like what could of been a glorious addition to the legendary rack got toned down to 1350. I mean, OK you can argue that with the new Swain look and how his ultimate is now time based there wouldn't be enough to make it legendary material. Fair enough.

But even with that case, I'm kind of disappointed with the lines of Dragon master Swain a bit. IDK, I just feel like since he's suppose to represent a lord of dragons he would at least have some special exclusive taunts to Dragon World skin champs, Shyvana, Sol, hell maybe even a "bow before your master" when taking a dragon instead of "dragon claimed." Maybe I'm going too deep into this, but I just feel a bit disappointed.

Next is Dark Star J4: I'm...really confused as to why this is his next big skin. First off, the Dark Star series, as I understand it, is about black holes and/or dark/ chaotic champs. Thresh and Orianna fit the black hole theme, while Varus and Kha'Zix to an extent fit more of the dark/chaoic neutral/evil champs (even now with Varus being a Darkin). Jarvan on the other hand doesn't fully fit in, as he doesn't really have a lot in his kit to convey black hole, unless you count his ult which is a stretch (and I'll get to in a moment), and because he's a Demacian champ with the new lore, is more of a lawful/neutral good champ. I know the character story behind this skin is he's corrupted but he's not fully corrupt and goes to hunt the Dark Star with their own powers, but even then I feel like this could of been given to another champ of sorts, like IDK maybe Ekko as an example. It's mostly made for the sake of giving him a skin after so long & possibly due to his popularity in eSports or something (Idk I don't keep up with that).

Overall if they want to go with the skin, then fine that boots him out of top 10 champs without skin for 1000 days. But my main gripe with him is his arena ult. I hate how the walls are! When you compare his other skins, his ult in this one feels lacking mainly due to the spacing of the walls. What I mean is the small individual walls that make up the arena each have 3 spikes projecting up, but the spacing between them feels large. Look back at a still from any of Jarvan's other skins and compare it to DS Jarvan's ult. I guarantee there will be a gap there. This is just a detail that has been driving me nuts. It looks so bad to me compared to his other skins. I would be perfectly fine with how the wall is if they just close up those gaps a bit. Hopefully someone at Riot sees this and gets that fixed before it launches, IDK.

Anyways, those are just some quick thoughts I wanted to throw out, mostly small nit picks. What do you guys feel about the skins?

I still think that DM Swain is I've if the best 1350s I've seen in recent memory.
