Neeko needs her story changed, now!!1
If you haven't heard, Riot is releasing a new champion named Neeko. Neeko is a lizard/gecko lady who transforms into other people
Neeko's story is that her tribe is gonna be wiped out and her elders happen to pick her as the last living member to REPRODUCE and make sure the tribe lives on
Neeko makes it out of her Tribe's home area safely and is now on a journey to find a suitable mating partner to HAVE CHILDREN AND HAVE HER TRIBE BACK
Now Riot made sure that we understood how Neeko's Tribe's society worked pretty much. There were no secrets between anyone within Neeko's Tribe because they all spoke by sharing energy with eachother. So if Neeko got the hots for some random chick on the street then that chick would feel it and probably look at Neeko and respond with whatever she'd respond with
Neeko's Tribe elders would have KNOWN she was lesbian. Now tell me, what sense does it make to have a LESBIAN be the last member of your Tribe so she can REPRODUCE and make sure the Tribe lives on?
If you answered "IT MAKES NO SENSE" you are correct and deserve praise
If you answered anything besides "It makes no sense" you are an NPC, I wish you luck in attempting to wake up from your computer-controlled masters
Even though we only have tidbits of what Neeko's tribe can do and was like, Riot made it clear(and shoved it down our face) that Neeko is such a poorly written character(super generic) that the ONLY way they can make her popular was to make her lesbian
Now if Neeko actually IS lesbian then that means her lore is in cognitive dissonance. Neeko can't be on a journey/mission to reproduce but also be on a journey/mission to be with another women because those obviously conflict with each-other
Neeko's actuall character traits are so bland that Riot had to give them a lense in order to make them interesting. Take this line for example: "Nidalee! Weird seeing you here. Neeko misses you." There is no other meaning than Neeko met Nidalee and grew close with her. This makes Nidalee and Neeko very close friends(or lovers, which considering Nid needs a lore update Riot is going to probably take this path)
If This line runs true lore-wise then this means one of two things for Nidalee and Neeko
Either Neeko's tribe didn't actually get wiped out and can teleport through space/time like Bandle city for Yordles(because the Tribe elders wouldn't have sent a non-reproducing member of the tribe out to reproduce) OR Neeko's lore is written so awefully that even Riot couldn't figure out what to do and just made her lesbian to cover up her lackluster character.
Take a look at this next line:
"Do I smell as bad as I look? (Sniffs) Yes." This is a generic line that comes up every time Neeko transforms into a guy champ
It has one obvious meaning and that's to joke about guys looking ugly and smelling awful. Neeko is a lesbian so it would make sense she doesn't find guys attractive but what sense does it make that she finds
to smell bad?
If Neeko met Braum in-lore then they would both be in the Freljord, A COLD AREA WHERE SMELL ISN'T GOING TO SPREAD, which obviously doesn't make sense.
Even outside the Freljord it doesn't make sense that Neeko would find all males ugly. Lesbians can ALL find dudes that they can call definitively handsome. Not one male in the entire cast gets a "hey you look pretty cool" besides Ezreal whose quote goes as follows: "Pretty! For a boy. Too pretty..." So Neeko clearly isn't made a capable character whose goals are realized
Neeko's tribe is wiped out and her reaction is "Oh... hey I know we are both chicks and I need to reproduce for my tribe since that's what my elders picked me for but you still wanna grab a lunch and date?"
If your family, friends, and previous way of life was wiped out... wouldn't you REACT and fufil a dying wish of your parents as simple as "make sure we have grandkids"
TL;DR Neeko is a character who falls flat on her face when you take away any small aspect of her. Her entire character is "lesbian who transforms but is a lizard-lady". Neeko has no depth and has no WAY to introduce depth into her character without HUGE rewrites
