Do people not realize that Neeko's preferences were INEVITABLE with her lore?

I wrote a lot about this when talking with friends so I try to make this a short cohesive post:

Thesis: Any other preference would be illogical and straight up unnatural given her background.

Reason: Shapeshifter Romance: Her people are shapeshifting telepaths with completly different conceptions of boundaries and affection - liking another person does not just mean wanting to be close to that other person, but also to BE that other person. However, moving drastically away from one's original form seems to be stressful - sure playing around mimicing Aurelion Sol is fun, but surely not an easy thing to do for Neeko. As she herself is apparently female in her "default" form, she will obviously prefer those that are more similar to her, aka females.

It just makes perfect sense. When "affection" is directly tied to "similiarity", this is what you get as an result. Her NOT liking girls would make absolutely no sense in that context - oh and don't give me the "muh biology reproduction muh"-stuff. She's from a species that could literally just grow a little thingy to make things work, even in a lesbian relationship. That's, like, the LEAST of her worries.

And let's be real, all of them complainers that popped up recently - you all have no problem lusting after Ahri, Eve, or Shyvanna's legs all day (and don't lie to me I KNOW THE FANART AND EVEN WORSE THE FANFICTION), but suddenly when someone else does it, it's not ok? Fucking hypocrites.

My personal take on it: I think Ahri is very beautiful, that Nami is nice, Eve a bit extreme (but also making me curious), adore Illaoi's strenght, and I'D DEFINETLY would go to lunch with Shyvanna at some point if I could. Me and Neeko just COMPLETLY agree on all of those things, so that makes her by far one of my most favourite champions right now. She just says what many of us are agreeing on anyways! [slayer-jinx-wink]

Agreed.

Strongly disagree. You've described a person's relationship with a role model, not their relationship with a romantic interest (or even a friend).

Part of what makes relationships special is not just the similarities but also the differences people have. Of course there's differences in looks, but also differences in how they think about situations and react to them. Being able to see/feel those similarities and differences in more detail would be what strengthens her relationship with others, and also what makes it harder to express.

While being more comfortable shape shifted another female's skin makes total sense for Neeko, I don't see that as a reason to suggest her species would be inherently more interested in same sex attractions. For it to pan out in their society couples would just be trying to reverse who is who, or it would end up homogenizing the couple, making them together less interesting then the two apart were.

Same preferences as Neeko and as you, I NEED more lore especially about Shyvana, how does her body function ? (transformation, fireproof ?), more about what happened to her when she was younger and in Demacia, ect.... But yeah I would definetly take her to lunch (just to discuss with a different point of view with her being half human and raised by a dragon).

At this point I don't even see any threads complaining about her being gay, just entire front Board flooded with old and new post how her sexual preference is irrelevant and makes sense and stuff. I planned to not define Neeko as "the openly homosexual playable lol character" but honestly can't now.
