Anyone Wish They Do a Lore Event That's Similar to the Current VS System?

Like, have it be Demacia vs. Noxus or something like that? Or maybe have lore events decided by VS events. Like, if in the lore Azir and Xerath are about to clash, have an Azir vs Xerath event that makes it so the winner is decided by who wins the event.

I dont.

Sure it sound cool on paper but its a bad idea to let players decide the lore with a popularity contest, specially considering that most of those players do not care about the lore and are participating just for the "gifts".

Lissandra won the old event of Freljord... But guess what? What players decided do not affect the lore, same for the Bilgewater event.

If players had to decide the lore with events like this, the whole world of Runeterra would be already ruled by Zed and the most popular champs, event if doesnt make any sense from the lore point of view

Honestly I think the vs event is pretty much their prototype for this kind of stuff before they actually use it for something that is canon.

However I doubt that this kind of event will ever become the standard, nor that it would be done for major conflicts, because as others pointed out already,it'd cause the lore to take the side of the more popular champ again and again, even if the other outcome would be much more interesting.

Like, if in the lore Azir and Xerath are about to clash, have an Azir vs Xerath event that makes it so the winner is decided by who wins the event.

Then we know the answer, Azir. Azir is way more popular and loved champion than Xerath. Xerath in lore standards should destroy Azir. Actually, even in gameplay, he fucks up him so bad.

They did this in the past....they have never went full with it.

A lore event in this style would be awesome, but I wouldn't want it decided by players.

I disagree that events should have an effect on the actual lore. That can pretty quickly get into some weird storytelling situations and would undo a lot of the work that the Narrative team have done behind the scenes.

However, that doesn't mean events are limited to just deciding story stuff. I'd still love to have a Demacia vs Noxus event in the future that we can participate in through missions and such.

An interesting idea, but only on paper. The difference between the vs. event and possible future events is that this is it's own separate thing from the canon universe. You could argue that this is the very beginning of the world, but even so it doesn't mean it has any significance to today's canon lore since this would have happened so long in the past.

And because it's not tied in to the current lore or world, Riot can have the player base decide how the outcome of the story will be since it will be it's own thing. Having something like this in a Noxus vs. Demacian event wouldn't work because, as Mira speculated in one of her posts about the vs. event, people don't want good to win since this is the internet and good is the evil here. People like to be rebellious and chaotic here since it gets them away from the orderly world of reality dictated by their parents and so on.

Because of that, I would almost guarantee that Noxus would win, either due out of more popularity or the fact that they're viewed as more chaotic. As well, this would heavily influence how Riot writes the current lore and events of League's world and would take away much of the control they have over it since it's being decided by the player base, while the vs. event is OK since it won't affect how they write the canon lore.
