YES, I KNOW technically Evelynn is asexual, but at least riot has explicitly stated she could woe a woman. ME personally, I don't give two figs what a character sexual orientation is in a game unless it adds something valuable to the game (either straight or else). In Evelynn's case it makes sense, so I'm glad Riot had the balls to do it -- Keep in mind they publish their game across the Globe, and some regions culturally are not acceptant or certain taboos

To be fair, representation in media is nice. Nobody bats an eye when heterosexual relationships are shown, but the media tends to flip out on even the implication of anything but. The point of some people saying "need" is so those kneejerk reactions stop being the norm.

One example was what may have been seen as (if you squint your eyes, subscribe to stereotypes, and still leap to conclusions) a lesbian couple in Finding Dory, and an explicit example was Tracer in Overwatch being revealed as gay.

Do you remember the shitstorm when Tracer was revealed as gay? Notice nobody gave a shit about Torb having like fifty kids? Was it because a character was revealed to be in a relationship (which I will admit does add fuel to the fire too), or because she was gay? If you can honestly tell me the reaction would have been the same (from the detractors, let's be fair and ignore the pro-LGBT fans who raised vocal approval) if Tracer had been revealed to be with a man, then I'll agree completely with you.

In general, there does "need" to be some representation in media, but only if representing anything is necessary. League of Legends isn't exactly the most romantic setting for storytelling, so having an explicitly homosexual character is kind of stupid. And pretty shallow. If a character was made to be just homosexual, it'd be more insulting than anything else. At least Ahri and Eve have reasons for being as sexual as they are. The most that we'll ever get (or should, really), is something more akin to Garen and Kat's "hinted at if you squint yoru eyes and teased by Riot but never actually the center of any lore" whatever the hell they have (some kind of stabby rivalry with some "ooh he's cute" implications I guess?).

It's nice yes, but it isn't necessary.

To be frank, a lot of reasoning I see for "representation" is so that people get to "relate to" and "identify" with characters.

All I gotta say is straight people don't identify with or relate to characters because they are straight. So why should it be the other way around?

I agree with this.. not only in terms of sexual orientation but also other things like race and culture to an extent.

I think Americans in general tunnel vision on this stuff way to hard. For example I am a Caucasian Spanish/Mexican... I don't think I have ever been "represented" in a game and I honestly could care less. I like to play weird shit like Ziggs and Rek Sai anyhow

Because "straight" is the default and we don't really need to look hard for relate-able characters?

We relate to those characters but don't really need to think about it. It's only when the norm is broken that we really notice. I mean, it kind of sounds stupid, but we are the majority. We don't need representation or relateable characters because we're considered the default.

Try thinking from their perspective, rather than thinking they should think like you. Try lateral thinking, you're thinking too linearly (yes, that was a pun).

The reason for that is probably because media is saturated with straight characters. It takes literally zero effort for someone to name dozens upon dozens. In other words, there's no need for any sort of positive depiction of straight characters and relationships because that's a history stretching back hundreds of years. Straight people have never been marginalized for being straight. The same can't really be said for the LGBTQIA community.

It wasn't in- game. Only die-hard fans that in my opinion, tend to lean left, are the ones who care enough to read the comics. If for example Tracer had quotes hitting on DVA or Widow in game it would had been a whole other deal I reckon

Evelynn is not bi, or straight, or anything. She is freaking demon, she doesn't have sexual desire. She just use sexuality as weapon. She didn't even understand human desires until she observed it for 2 week or so. It doesn't matter where pain comes, male or female. Just pain. Pure suffering.

She is asexual at best.

It just seems random to me to make names for people with particular proclivities/tastes/identities as sexual orientations?

I mean a Bisexual,Straigh or gay I can understand because they are attracted to a certain gender. However for example if you really like athletic dudes are you a Vigosexual? If you really like skinny people are you a thinsexual? It's not that I am denying that people that might have a romantic investment with a transgender exist (they obviously do). I just find the distinction redundant.

Pansexuality means it doesn't matter what is your gender. Homosexuality (for males) means you need to be cisgender man.

I am a straight man and I am not attracted to gay females, yet I am still just called straight

I don't know what a cisgender is, but unless you have a genetic anomaly you can only be a man or a woman. Whether you identify as something else is a whole other can of worms. Note I'm not denying different sexual orientations and preferences, but a human 99.7% of the times BIOLOGICALLY is either a man or a woman

No but we do. People of past created these words and we use.

You see it in way of dumb and stupid, so you think it is useless to have both, even though there are many words like this and it has no harm.

I see it in way of they are not same, because transgender people see themselves as opposite gender and I would let them live as how they live. Biologically male, mentally female. When I seek for a man, I want both together. So I'm not attracted. So we need another word to descript people who are attracted to man no matter how they are.

There is a clear difference in the case, but it is all about perspective. Not like these words are not gonna change in the future, as words are not absolute.

For some people homosexuality doesn't even exist, it is just perversity made ffs. Perspective as I said.

While I understand synonyms in everyday speech, when I use scientific terms (such as sex) I do think it has value to remove redundancies. I guess depending on your social circle words like Pansexual might have a practical use, you have shown me that. However these communities are so tiny that those words will never get traction on common parlance unless purposely forced onto the majority of the population (forced can be in many ways like TV propaganda, laws etc). That is not how language does or should evolve.

I mean, an asexual doesn't experience attraction, and she doesn't strike me as the romantic type. In addition, asexuals can still have sex, so it's not like sex and sexual attraction have to go hand in hand. Just because someone could woo a woman doesn't mean they're bi. If I had to pin her down to a orientation that feels sexual attraction, pansexual seems to be the most accurate title (though she may be even more than that, if her dragon comments are anything to go by).

But yes, as an asexual, I can safely say that Eve is probably closer to asexual, given that she doesn't seek whichever one would be a better lover or whatnot. She seduces them, but wooing and asexuality are not mutually exclusive.

You mean besides Buddhism (which 535 million people practice), Hinduism (which over 900 million people practice as it is the major religion of India and Nepal), and the countless folk religions (which about 400 million people practice), that don't care about such things?
