@Riot tell me if I am no longer a target audience for this game.

When a game makes terribile, generic, sexist, juvenile character designs - I do not even try it out.

When a game makes creative, varied, smart character designs - I really want to try the game.

But now I am confused, because League Of Legends is sending me mixed signals. Does it belongs to category A or category B?

In the two last years, the game has released only character designs that I liked. So I thought this game was for me. This year, the game has done the opposite and released only character designs that I hated. I feel I am not welcome here.

These mixed signals are a problem. A cute anime character trope once in a while is ok, but this year I feel the developers did a marketing research and decided they would do a 180° turn from what they had accomplished in design variety and coolness.

Is this why Ironstylus has left Riot? Did he disagree with the 180° turn? Did he know Riot has decided to focus only on horny preteens who obsess over cute anime?

This year launched Xayah, Rakan, Kayn, and Ornn. The VGUs were Warwick, Galio, Urgot, and Evelynn. Only Kayn qualifies as what you consider an anime trope character. Furthermore, this game has over 130 characters to pick. If you don't like a new release, play someone you do like. The new releases do not define what type of game this is.

Xayah and Rakan are samefaced anime characters too. If you told me Xayah was a "young Ahri" skin, I would believe it.

And what about the Star Guardians, becoming so excessively prominent?

Xayah and Rakan are not samefaced anime characters, and their design isn't even remotely close to anything in anime. Furthermore, the Star Guardians are skins, not champions.

Lastly, just because it doesn't not appeal to you, doesn't mean it doesn't appeal to others. You may like PROJECT Zed or Yasuo or those skins in general, for example, but I personally do not care for them at all. Not every champion or skin is designed strictly for every single person. That's the beautiful thing about options and choices. You get to choose. If you choose to dislike this game because it has content you don't like, feel free to.

You can also google beastmen race in classical literature. It's just a general trope in design, Rakan and Xayah are literally mermaids but with bird as theme, hardly something anime specific.

Even if it is, so what? You allergic to anime or something, what's so legitimately so bad about anime that you avoid it like a plague?

Not to mention, the bottom line is that: Not every single thing on the menu need to fulfill your subset of preference, roster and different choices/options for say champions and skins exist for a reason. You're just a dictator who thinks something is only good and allowed to exist if you think is good; I'm sorry, no one serves people like that anywhere and not just in this game.

Anime is Japanese.

Riot is American.

I hate it when a Western country tried to copycat things and styles that are so very specific to Asian culture that they make no sense otherwise.

I appreciate taking inspiration from it. I hate just monkeying tropes.

Do you complain about Riot not making use of Native American themes at all so far in this game?

Do you complain Riot is lot of times just copying tropes invented in popular media, and European, ancient Greek, Viking, Middle Eastern, Chinese etc legends?

What about us having 3 ninjas that later became 4 (maybe 5 now if we count Kayn loosely as one) quite early on in this game's life?

It's like Pandaria all over again. Blizzard copied every culture trope across the globe into WoW and no one bats an eye, suddenly everyone has issues when Blizzard finally got around copying Chinese culture. This is no different, just cultural bias against something in particular for no reason, which in this case is your allergy to anything remotely ""anime"".

The first "anime" character in the game is not Kayn, or Rakan or Xayah, or anyone you decide to cock-ring the tag "anime" and negatively; it was Lux and Sona, who are a homage to a Touhou character and a homage to a synthesiser's anime persona respectively.

The first "anime" skin that I remember was Battle Regalia Poppy, a custom skin turned official skin that had a heavy "animeish" feel. And a couple of Lux's first few skins, being also references to the same Touhou character that Lux herself is base on.

Then again, we also have had 4 ninjas for the longest time (maybe 5 now if we count Kayn loosely as one).

If you tolerated then, there is no reason to reject now.

And seriously, you said so yourself that you have 2 year of things you like, and 1 year of things you don't like. Fucking big deal. Get over it. Not everything has to be catered and tailored to you.

Again, options and variety exist for a reason.

Name some uniquely American fokelore or monsters that could be drawn on for inspiration then. Paul Bunyan and Big Foot are the only two that come to mind. You could say that the Wild West was pretty unique, but we've already pulled that into champion designs and skins.

there is plenty of variation in league with champions, skins, and events, if you can't deal with the fact that there will occasionally be content you don't like without acting like an entitled baby then yes maybe you should find something else to play

I got a simple solution to your problem:

How about you just focusing on enjoying the champs you do enjoy & stop being concerned about shit made for other people?

Reading your threads make it sound like Riot is actively hunting down the champs you like & replacing them with things you don't like. Newsflash: The champs you like are still in the game. Bard, Kindred, TK, ASol, Ekko, Illaoi, Taliyah, etc are all still in the game. You said it yourself, you got 2 years worth of content you like (11 champs) not to mention any other champs from before those 2 years. But somehow 3 champs you don't like are a problem. 3 hated things > 11+ appealing things I guess. The stuff you like is still here & are the majority. Then this game is still for you, so go enjoy it. Or do you not actually enjoy those 11+ champs?

We get it, you don't like the champs targetted at a younger audience. You don't like the Star Guardian skins target at fans of magical girls &/or the anime aesthetic. But that's the thing, those are TARGETTED at other players & you don't have to indulge in those things. Stop acting Riot signed a legal contract saying they would only make champs & skins you like. They have to make all types of things that are appealling to all, different sorts of people around the planet. Just because you find something appealing doesn't mean every player will find it appealing. I'm sure there are players out there who hate the things you like & love the stuff you hate. There's going to be stuff that you don't like in the game. But those shouldn't take away from what you do like.

You also make it sound like Riot will now only make things you don't like. No, they're not going to only make "anime-esque" content from now own. The Star Guardian hype has came & now is on the way out (just a few more days left). The skins team have other, less anime themes to expand upon. They already did so with some while adding a new one in the time since the 2017 SG skins were announced. The champion team won't, hell they can't, only make "anime-esque" champs from now. Riot has an entire world to expand & they can't represent Runeterra only with characters like Xayah, Rakan or Kayn. That'll just limits Riot's ability to flesh out Runeterra. They showed with Ornn that the direction you're concerned with is not going to happen. Eventually, Riot is going to make some things you like again. In the meantime, instead of questioning your place in the game every time Riot adds something unappealing for you, you focus on have an enjoyable experience with the appealing elements of the game.

Welp, I rambled on long enough about this subject.

I fail to see the logic behind your post or even the reason for your post. You need to understand Riot doesnt make champions for any one person they make a kit and they mold a champion around it. Fun fact: I had been ranting on the forum of another moba for a good year.

These days, I keep praising the developers and defending them if someone criticizes their design choices.

Because they changed. Maybe they realized they could do better, maybe it just happened, whatever - what counts is that if we get a new champion like Taliyah or such I would praise her a lot.

You may not believe it, but when I do get what I like, I praise it a lot. I sure haven't been praising League here in the forums, but trust me, you may say I have praised it with my money in the past years - back when I liked what it was doing.

Also, sorry I couldn't come up with a synonim of praise - English isn't my language.

We can't like every champion and skin design in the game. I currently only really play poppy and jinx and they weren't made for a while (jinx s5 and poppy idk what season tbh, altho she got reworked i think in s6). I like the different designs personally, it makes it feel like there's always at least 1 style of champion to play.

The initial topic has value, as do many of the posts, but I can't justify leaving this thread active given the downward trend of the recent posts.
