Nami is a Tidecaller who requires a Moonstone. Diana is the only Lunari in existence in present Runeterra.
Why do they not even have any connection on the Friends & Rivals sections of their bios?
When Nami was first revealed, this was my assumed lore connection but with the intro of Bard i'm not so sure anymore. Bard can just as easily fit the role of providing a powerful artifact of a moonstone and taking away at equally powerful/mysterious abyssal pearl as his "lore" suggests is his function.
I think I prefer the Lunari version though as that is more grounded and the implications are greater. I'd be far more interested in what would the Lunari do with the pearl than what bard would do. Does messing with dark energies of the pearl lead to their downfall? Are the Lunari actually evil or have darker intent than simply being misunderstood as Diana believes? All much more interesting than a cosmic entity simply fulfilling its cosmic duties.
Of course Bard could be just as interesting but we know fuck all about him and Diana was here first so fuck that guy until riot gives me a reason to care.
Well, in League Factions Our lore actually has Nami and Diana having worked together to create a new Moonstone and save Nami's People. Our lore may not be "Canon" but at least we work to develop our stories.
Seems like they could each have a connection to the moonstone.
Would be a pretty interesting way to tie those champions together, either as allies or rivals.
Might happen once Riot starts developing lore for older champions again.
They don't have any connection because they've never canonically met and aren't really in any position to do so. Diana's a recently-converted Lunari who's spending most of her time trying not to get smited by the Solari and Nami only recently came ashore. The odds of these two people running into each other in such a short time period (especially considering Mt. Targon isn't anywhere near an ocean, if I recall) are very small and even then they may not recognize each other as being significant or meaningful to their goals.

I was thinking of this as a possible connection, but it is highly up to interpretation as we have hardly any information on the Lunari.
Just because she's moon themed, doesn't mean she has knowledge or access to a moonstone. Do we even entirely know what that stone is supposed to do?
I think they were originally leaving it open.
Maybe adding a new champion down the line that steals it for it's power. Adding both all 3 champions story. We'll never know now.
They will eventually come back to Diana once a Mount Targon lore event pops up. Its only a matter of time, since we know very little about the factions there (probably even less than the rest of the major factions except Zaun).
