If there is an actual year of the dragon in the Chinese calendar, would it make sense to give the prime dragon champion of the game a skin for the year of the dog?

No.... It's the right move from Riot to postpone Aurelion Sols lunar revel skin until we are in the year of the dragon (2024). Not saying Aurelion Sol shouldn't get a skin as soon as possible, he deserves it after that long wait. But don't destroy thematics and concepts by forcing him into a skin line when it's not time. Give him another skin soon.

I didn't read the article you linked, only Katey's comment on another thread.

Either way, if you ask me, none of those reasons justify Lux being the chosen champion other than "princess". Especially "last skin was over a year ago" since it's just one or two months past one full year of the skin which WAS HER ULTIMATE SKIN.

Champions that we KNOW are getting a different skin next patch (or in future patches: Xayah Illaoi

Champions that got a skin in December: Poppy Jinx (both don't really fit the theme, either.)

Champions that got a skin in November: Vayne Zoe

Champions that got a skin in October: Nidalee Elise

Other champions that FIT THE THEME and has had a skin in the last YEAR: Fiora Janna Cassiopeia Ahri Syndra Soraka MissFortune (debatable if MF fits theme) Kayle Riven Caitlyn Zyra Diana Ashe Karma Katarina

Female Champions that don't fit the theme: Annie Camille Kalista Leblanc Lissandra Lulu Nami Orianna Quinn Shyvana Sivir Sona Zyra Sejuani (all of this is fully my opinion based on character and voice lines, but it won't matter soon).

Champions that are left SO FAR: Akali Leona Lux Morgana Taliyah

So, why was Lux chosen out of these 5 champions?

We can never know the answer to that question, because the solution to this debate lies within skins that haven't been announced yet.

(Before you comment against this, please read the ENTIRE ARTICLE) This guy managed to pinpoint the new Christmas and Hextech skins, and according to him, Akali is getting a skin this year. I also have reason to believe that unlike what the article says, chromas are not included in this list because some champions that are getting chromas this next patch, like Sona and Garen, are not listed in this list.

Now, of course this can be wrong. It's reddit, after all. But, there's also the talk of the Morgana/Kayle dual VU, which covers another one of the possible candidates. Even though I DO AGREE WITH RIOT that Lux was the best pick to be a "powerful godly princess" out of these 5, this would also mean that Leona and yes, TALIYAH are receiving skins next year.

OK, now to actually address your point haha. 

Yes, I can see how some of the champions that I've listed under "does not fit the theme" can be deformed and twisted to fit this fantasy... if they receive the 1850 RP treatment. Yet, there's a couple reasons why I believe using the 1850 treatment here would be... difficult.

First of all, Lunar Revel hasn't had a Legendary skin before. For the past year, I don't believe any ongoing skin sets started using Legendary skins, so I think it would be out of place in this skin set.

Second (and my main point), Riot is releasing 6 skins and 19 chromas in patch 8.2. **Nineteen.** That's a HECK of a lot of cosmetics being created and added into the game. And I haven't even mentioned the summoner icons and ward skins. Riot may be a big business, but it's foolish to say that they aren't using every person on their team to make these and upcoming skins and cosmetics without evidence (YOU DIDN'T SAY THIS but I know some moron is going to come along and spout this). I seriously think that their Legendary skin team is working on other projects at the moment.

Yeah, a lot of champions can fit under certain skin lines in terms of APPEARANCE, but not in terms of RAW CHARACTER if we're talking no legendary. For instance, Sivir could LOOK to be a godly princess, but then her voice lines wouldn't click. This isn't much of a problem for skin lines with a small amount of story behind them (I like to think the Christmas skins are the champions dressing up for the holidays) but Lunar Revel ALWAYS has a background to it that's in depth. Personally, I think Lux's common voice lines saved her from that problem.

I highly doubt Lux's voice lines could fit the concept or fantasy of a godly princess, and like I said, any champion can fit a theme, not "twisted and deformed" it isn't hard to do. And plenty of champions have skins that don't coincide with their main story and/or personality, but those skins fit if you do even a tiny bit of thinking because creative allows Riot to make skins for champions that would cause people with the idea that only certain champs can have certain skins to realize the actual possibilities.

Out of curiosity, can you go through my list above and point out the champions in the "Does not fit the theme" category that you think could've made the cut other than the five I listed? And don't say "all of them" because that's the lazy-man's way of going about it.

I know a couple that were close calls but I want to hear from you your opinion.

Well, from a gameplay standpoint; I'd say Nami and Zyra can fit into the theme simply because the magic they use gives a sense of control over the natural order in some aspects, a very godly trait. Sona is generally depicted with a dignified demeanor, and her character is meant to convey grace and elegance, which is also something I'd expect, in some cases, of a god or goddess.

Not sure why Lux is getting all the hate though. Nasus has 7 skins prior to this and warwick has 8; Lux also has 7. Elementalist Lux was released late 2016 and is not within everyone's price range. This is a good alternative to SG (her only other decent skin)

Mordekaiser out since 2/24/2010 with 2 skins on release and one of the release skins is a legacy which means he has had three skins in almost 8 years his last one was 964 days ago... where is the logic in that.

Mordekaiser is up for a rework so he cannot get a (high-quality) skin, and has always been acknowledged as a character in need of a rework.

Meanwhile, Lux, albeit sometimes annoying, doesn't need, nor will get a rework, meaning that she can get a skin.

It would be more fair to compare her with champions that are not problematically-designed while being released near her, like Kog (10), or Caitlyn (8), or even Xin Zhao (7) to an extent. And when you compare it that way, her number of skins doesn't seem so abnormal.

I mean it's not about whether or not if he is barred from a skin due to a rework I was just using Mordekaiser as a reference to state that while lux just got her eighth skin not counting 2 release skins, champions like Mordekaiser who have been around almost the same amount of time have less than half of the skins of the champion in question. whether it be Lux, Caitlyn, Kog'Maw, Xin Zhao their is an inherent problem with how they distribute skins cause yearly I will sit here and think ok where is the yearly or even twice a year lux/ahri skins.

Lux last skin was 2016 and Ahri receives two skin per year not 1 ( either 750rp or Chroma or 2 skin per year : 1 cheap and 1 with particles change ) . Stat : Academy ( Aug 2015) -> Challenger ( jan 2015 ) , Arcade ( Aug 2017 ) , Chroma ( around jan ) , Sg (Sep. 2017 ) . The only reason why Ahri did not get anymore skin this year is bc she just got legendary .

I don't even know why they insist sol into this maybe because they're desperate for a sol skin. Plus, lux has a chance considering those wad files last month clearly hinted her. And some just put the blame on lux because of their saltiness to ASOL and even if this is not lux, they'll also because they're no skins for their space doggo.

Asol has really not much to do with dogs either,so by that logic he wouldn't have made sense as well.

If anything the only 2 other champions who have something to do with dogs would have been Kindred (but since lamb is the dominant part of the character they'd make more sense for the year of the sheep) and Ahri (who has already enough skins as well and her last one is more recent than Luxs)
