Random Theories about SG Lore
So, I don't know what is or isn't confirmed by Riot for these SG skins and the universe itself, but I have some theories about the SG universe. So, basically with season 3 I am thinking of tons of new things that could be added to the lore of the Star Guardians. If something was confirmed, let me know! Also, if I have something lore-wise incorrect, let me know that as well. This is also my first theory thread, so please be polite and constructive. It is pretty messy in some spots. I tie in the two other theories by the end.
Starting off with the first thing, Star Guardians are pretty similar to Darkin story-wise (hear me out). I know things in game are not usually canon (besides some VO lines), but this factor is also a part of cinematic and the like. What I am hinting at? Well, with SG 
and 
upon being "killed" they get trapped into their SG gem. This is exactly like Darkin. Darkin cannot be killed; they can only be imprisoned into their weapon. I am thinking that the SG are very similar. Only instead of being trapped in a weapon, they all get trapped in their gem until their familiar frees them (because and are freed from the gem through their familiar helping them out). Darkin, however, are freed when someone takes the weapon (
was freed by Kai and Valmar, Rhaast is trying to take control of 
, and 
has been imprisoned, but I don't remember all of his details). Also, another similarity is that the Darkin are really just corrupted Ascended (corrupted via the Void). Star Guardians are Ascended by the First Star, yet can be corrupted by 
(which I am guessing is kind of like the Void, this does fit because in Invasion the enemies were the corrupted SG version of Void spawn). These similarities make great cases for a Star Guardian & . We could go and say as well, although the prior two are much more likely.
Also! I am thinking that the gems in SG 
's hand in her cinematic aren't 
. I think this because Neeko still has her gem, and from the looks of it & both still have their gems, only they are corrupted. I am thinking that the darkened gems in 's hand are other corrupted Star Guardians she has had to "kill" and imprison in the gems. You might be wondering why their familiars haven't come to free them... well no where does it say that familiars can't be killed. probably killed the familiars to ensure that the corrupted Star Guardians didn't get freed again. was unable to capture 's and 's gems because they perished during a fight with ... and didn't want to risk her life or 
's in trying to capture the gems. Now, they have to fight against the corruption. It does fit with SG 's VO lines with the fact that she says something like, "Star Guardians don't quit, we're reborn". They are reborn due to their familiars freeing them. Also, to further support the idea that they get trapped in gems... 
's familiars carry off her light and help her respawn. Kiko ('s familiar) doesn't do this per say, but Kiko is probably a part of the reason on how she gets revived. (This effect wasn't given to all skins because this is given to primarily the legendary SG skins, but it could be lore).

Third, Star Guardians can trade gems and colors. This one is mainly due to 's and 's recalls. sends his remaining light from his gem to to accept. His gem is green, and when accepts it she turns green as well (we are not discussing chromas here).
The third point leads me to my final theory. The ability to trade gems and colors hints towards what happened to . Let me explain, when gives up his gem and light he becomes fully corrupted like is. What I am thinking is that the secret history between and 
is this... and were both corrupted once, but gave up her light and gem for . This created the darkness that is now corrupting other Star Guardians. I don't know how and got corrupted or by whom / what. Again, these are simply theories. This can also be the big secret that 
has been hiding from her team about the truth of the Star Guardians. Remember, is a veteran Star Guardian, and she is perhaps the eldest of them all. She could know of this darkness and have had been around when and became corrupted (this makes her team of Star Guaridans the eldest ones we know about, with 's team coming in second because 
and 
were SGs slightly longer than 
's team, and 's team is the youngest). As far as we know, 
were ascended together and joined them. and probably come from 's old team, but she managed to escape just like how and managed to escape when and became corrupted. With all of this being said, the only new Star Guardians from S2 (season two) were and and they joined up with and . If anything I have said holds true, then we could see more Star Guardians of both pure and corrupted forms. and could be joining the roster in the future years because there are plenty of teams that could be missing Guardians. 's team could be her, , , , and . Also! The three gems Ahri is holding could be from another team, meaning that there is at least one other team out there currently. There could be one to two others guardians from that team!
Edit: Very quickly, might be capturing more and more Star Guardians in an attempt to free herself. This idea is mainly due to when she dies gems fly out of her and return somewhere... (hinting at the idea of more Star Guardians just like her). Xayah and Rakan are not like completely because they kept their gems, and Zoe was not able to take them, but her presence did corrupt them. cannot free herself because her presence corrupts them, so her taking them might corrupt the gem to the point where there is no more light within it.
Edit 2: It also makes sense that is the reason that the corrupted Star Guardians have to be trapped away inside their gems because , the Aspect of Twilight, is the reason why the Darkin were trapped inside their weapons. She helped trap them basically from what I remember.
