@Meddler, or Repertoir - Mordekaiser VU and VGU please?

Hi! I was thinking that since you guys don't have any outwardly concrete plans for overhauls next year that you would consider working on Mordekaiser (again). His kit is a bit of a mess and even your team has admitted that he was a failure. A complete, Sion level overhaul would be a perfect opportunity to push him back into the lanes he started in - Top and Mid - and be an additional opportunity to eradicate pizza feet from the game for good. On top of this, thematically, he falls short of representing the Shadow Isles, as his current look, the mace stuff, and Magneto shenanigans don't particularly fall in line with how you've been doing Shadow Isle champions, most especially the apparitions (of which he is) like Thresh, Hecarim, and Kalista. Just food for thought, and I would hope he is a prime candidate for a rework.

I think we have a good chance of seeing a Mordekaiser relaunch in 2017, since with the recent Taric rework and the upcoming Yorick and Warwick updates out of the way, the Iron Revenant and Urgot are arguably the champions most in need of being updated.

Just because Warwick got a new splash art doesn't mean that they fixed him. His gameplay problems and bad ingame model still exist.

(though it is possible that ww gets a rework this year).

And I'd say that Evelynn is also a huge candidate for a VU as her gameplay feels really odd(she is supposed to be an AP assassin,but her kit has abilities that fit tanks or fighters a lot more) and she is definetly lacking in terms of a thematic identity.

Yes, I totally forgot Evelynn. Although I don't think she is as bad as Mordekaiser and Urgot, but still pretty outdated.

I counted Warwick as being out of the way because his update can be successful and released, or it may tank and go to icebox, in which case they won't work on him for a time.

evelynn is getting her rework at the end of the year. Assuming the assassin class is the one they target.

Remember that Roster Updates, like the one that may be done for assassins, work with limited art resources. Until now, they have had enough resources for two or three skills per champion, plus texture updates for base skins on a couple of them.

Evelynn needs way more work than that. Her model is quite outdated, and she has thematic issues both in narrative and in gameplay. The scope of a Roster Update is most likely insufficient for her needs.

Unless they seriously increase their resource pool for roster updates, I would put Evelynn in a place similar to Swain: She will receive some gameplay-focused work, then wait her turn for a Sion-level update.

Just because they might make a roster update doesn't mean that Eve won't need a rework afterwards.

Swain for example was said to need a complete rework eventually(which is why he wasn't chosen for one of the 6 "big" roster places),but he did get a small change to his abilities in his rework. It's just that this small rework won't replace the full one.

From what I know they never went into detail about who will be chosen specifically for these kind of projects.

So he said that she could use a full VGU,but that she will likely get some changes if the assassins get a class update. Though "some changes" doesn't mean that she'll be one of the big reworks,I mean swain also received some changes in the mid-year update,but he is still planned to get a full VGU eventually.

It really is a shame that they didn't update his horrifically old model in the Juggernaut patch. Since his gameplay was messed up so much, his VU will be delayed until they can dedicate more time and resources toward his kit, and that probably won't be until next year.

Panth, Urgot, WW, etc. models are also outdated, but since the Taric rework Morde is the only one still bringing stuffed crust to the rift.

He can keep his mace and armor, so long as he actually looks like a Shadow Isle apparition. They could easily go the spectre in the haunted armor route with him and remove his physical body for just the ghost possessing a suit of armor.

But Mordekaiser theoretically is the first undead. Why shouldn't he look different? After all he is not a ShadowIsles undead , why should he look like one? "... He looks down upon these newly formed undying spirits as a lesser breed ..." It all makes sence to me that he would not look like an undead made from "The Mist" of the ShadowIsles.

Ok, touche on that part; However, the lesser undead are not the cognitive undead that appear as champions of the Shadow Isles like Hecarim, Kalista, and Thresh. I think that is in reference to zombies and other spirits. That being said, they still need to go the spirit-in-armor route for him, because the solid suit of armor doesn't lend itself to adding to the fantasy that he is a wraith possessing his ancient armor. He needs something to display his ethereal nature aside from lore and vocals.

Mordekaiser is said to be quite the priority on The List ™ for a full VGU.

And yeah, as Pyrodinium said, I think it's likely our dear Iron Revenant will get his well-deserved, big update sometime in the next couple of years (2017 or 2018).

Any attention he needs is more than a roster update can provide. That's all I can say on the topic of updating Mordekaiser's kit.

Small reminder: I created a topic about this more or less, a few hours before this one. The OP posted there too. I think Morde does not really need that much at the moment, there are worse offenders out there. After a bit of initial mess now is much better compared to the older version and has a more meaningful impact on the game, even thought thereare still things a bit off ( like the E, always disliked the E).

I think he will still be high in the priority, at least graphically for sure, but i would not like to have other champions moved back for him.

I mean, he is a visual blight to this game, but the only way he'll get visually updated is with a full relaunch; Riot has stated that they will not do a full VU without a VGU if the kit is problematic, and his kit is most definitely that. They've said that,they don't want to program animations for things if the kit will change, so for him, I only see a full relaunch happening, and he's really one of the absolute worst looking champions at the moment. Udyr and Pantheon are bad, but they're at least more current in looks that Mordekaiser, and in terms of kit, I just think Mordekaiser needs to be put back on track with an actual role.
