as for what you said about caring for her:
this was kinda personal to me, imagine if you have bad memories weighing heavily on you so much that you are wiling to do anything to forget it ( i been there myself).then realize that there are other ways for you to easily forget those memories without having to dealing with them.
now when it comes down to it i would ask myself do i really want to forget? aren't these memories what makes me, me? good or bad? isn't growing up in life about learning and moving on with bad experiences and memories?
in our normal live, we are dealing with these bad memories because we HAVE to and when we do, at the end it doesn't feel...important, not to me at least. we know we did it because we had no other choice...either deal with it or let it eat you alive!
but imagine if you know there are certain ways to get rid of them without having to deal with them and YET you choose not to because it would help you grow as a person and be stronger. wouldn't that feel more rewarding? wouldn't that make you more proud of yourself that you didn't choose the easy way?doesn't it grow you more confident about your abilities to overcome your tough memories?
thats what made ahri and this story good for me..she knows she got a choice to deal with it the easy way but she didn't go through with it!
for the romance part :
im kinda getting tired of the "super cute boy chasing super hot girl (or the other way around) and one of them reject the other one because he/she doesn't care and over time they get to see past each other differences or one of them save the other one or do something heroic/big and fall in love then live happy together"kind of cliche romance.
this dude knew who she is and what she was doing, he knew that loving this woman and getting close to her meant his certain death by her but he didn't care for the sake of his love. its kinda like what some of us experience in real life we know certain people are going to hurt us or break us. we know about their monster side but we love them so much we dont care about it.its not that we want to get hurt its that we hope for the best!
this sort of romance which has more realistic and real life aspects to it is much more to my taste than those romeo x juliet or , xayah and rakan kind of romantic fantasies. to me romance was never that simple. this romantic story was a doomed one from start , bound to end in pain because she had an image of a monster from herself! she was ambitious about becoming something she wasn't,so much that she never expected it would effect and hurt her THIS much.
maybe im just glorifying this but thats how i see it xD sorry for wall of text trying to be as specific as i can.
