So, assuming Kindred is Death...

From what seems to be implied, Kindred might be a demon like Tahm Kench, one that embodies death instead of hunger (I'm starting to think they - Tahm and Kindred - are Darkin, and each Darkin represent a specific state of being), or they might be Death/the Angel of Death themselves. While there's no lore out yet, that doesn't mean we can't have a little forum game.

So, what would a champion say if they managed to kill Kindred - in Runeterra universe, not gameplay? Urgot Not even death can end my pain!

Karthus Your disrespect comes to an end, Kindred

Chogath DEATH IS NOTHING COMPARED TO THE HORRORS THAT AWAIT IN THE VOID

Nasus All cycles come to an end, and in these strange eras, death too must die

TahmKench was confirmed to be a Demon, not a Darkin.

And death is something natural, not evil.

In the Art Notes of the recent Champion Insight for Kindred, Mundo and Skeeziks said this:

Ultimately, we wanted Kindred to become a cultural archetype for League - creatures that truly embody the world of Runeterra and highlight how unique the world is. And here’s the kicker: we don’t even see Kindred as physical characters in the world. So far as anyone in Valoran knows, Kindred is just a fairytale, a way for some Runeterran cultures to rationalize or personify the mystery of life and death. As for whether they're actually real? Well, that's for the dead to know.

I think that this is a really cool idea. I believe what they are going for is slightly different than Bard and Tahm Kench, who seem to be real entities in the world that other champions are aware exist and interact with (maybe?). Kindred seems to be more a concept of death that has been embodied in this champion. Maybe similar to our real-life idea of the Grim Reaper--it is an image of death that is recognized by many, but we know it is not a real figure (at least most do not). I believe Kindred is occupying the same space within Runeterra. It may be a bit more difficult to understand when there are various magical and seemingly immortal beings in the League universe, but I find it to be compelling. And a bit meta. A legendary creature within a universe of diverse powerful beings? I like that.
