"The Summoners were simply too powerful to allow for meaningful conflict..."
"So here's a dude who can rise an entire city and an army with sand
, another who's so powerful it takes the combined might of many armies to bring down
, a Ruined King that can cast a single spell and cause an entire island to become an undead nightmare that haunts Valoran to this day since the centuries it was created, a interdimensional being who can solve conflicts by simply stealing shit up
, and either Death itself or a very powerful being who fancies himself an aspect of it
"
Don't get me wrong, I really like the new writing quality, but I'm hating more and more it's direction.
Between the Black Mist, the Void, the sociopolitical tensions between the two main factions, and the existence of people who can bring back powerful men back to life who proceed to usher in a new age of darkness for centuries who do it so casually it doesn't even warrant a description (the warlocks in Mordekaiser's new lore), Runeterra seems like the physical manifestation of Mr. Burns, with which I mean it's being tag-teamed by so many things that could end it as fast as you can say "Please don't kill me" that they all get stuck at the metaphorical door, keeping a very fragile balance.
Very Warhammer 40k-ish. I really like McNeill's works, just not sure this kind of thing is what LoL really needs.
and
were pretty heavily implied to only be staying "under control" just to bide time or for amusement, respectively. Hell,
was only able to be captured because he was brought into the physical world where he's REALLY not as good as he normally is. Also, y'know,
shows what happens when Summoners fuck up. Why not just... Have Summoners fuck up more instead?
