My biggest fear with the new and awesome Universe-thing

That this is pretty much just a one-time thing and apart from the initial release material there is absolutely no increase in lore content. Which is sad, because lore is what keeps players and especially the creative crowd (fanart, fanfiction, etc.) interested in a game that is, if we are brutally honest here, pretty much the same every match. And yes, same thing applies to stuff like chess which is also an awesome game, but that does neither build a constant hype or an community around it - especially not one of the size a game fandom can achieve.

People love stories and getting immersed into them, espcially in a shared experience. Remember when Game of Thrones suddenly blew up with the TV show and suddenly liking the aesthetics of medival central europe mixed with classic fantasy wasn't making you a geeky social outcast anymore? The fandom it created was massive, yet it is barely comparable to the potential Riot is sitting on. You see, TV or book fandoms tend to have their ups and downs, the later ones especially during long season breaks where the fandom falls into cryo-sleep until news about the next season comes out (Looking at you there, Sherlock!). But as long as there is a regular release of content it keeps going high. HOWEVER, every series or book has to come to its end at some point. And once you've reached the end the fandom will echo it a bit before people wander off to do other things.

With Runeterra however Riot has not just the potential of a single series, but of dozends of them being able to work simultanously. And even if one series ends, their world of Runeterra keeps turning. It's kinda like having a Marvel-level universe, but one that is actually accessible to newcomers (there is a reason the movies are in a different universe than the comics. If you keep piling up countless characters for 50+ years... well, it gets tricky). Even Marvel is yet to shy to step into the realm of true transmedial storytelling, mostly because of their lack of a unified content distribution and easily accessible archivation system (because if people can't find all your stuff it's uselss no matter how good it is), which Riot game obviously has with their new client and Universe.

At the same time even if there is a short time drough in terms of content, people can still fall back on this game which is, despite all the crying over there on the gameplay boards, in a pretty decent shape actually. And as long as a game is good, people play it. And that means: no matter what content you publish, you have a guarenteed and passionate audience. You don't have to worry that maybe none is going to see your movie/story/whatever, people are always there and waiting for it. (Unless you ruin it and word gets around that your content sucks, but that's a given in this line of work)

And it's not like Riot is the only one with such potential. Blizzard for instance has made their first steps into popular culture (I mean the one outside of the gaming subculture which Blizzard has not left since the very beginning) recently with their Warcraft movie, or the Overwatch animated shorts - and even if the Overwatch graphic novel was panned, it shows that they have plans to expand on that. But Riot has literally the best starting conditions to go with from what I can see. And it would literally a shame to see it all go to waste. No, shame would be an understatement. It would be like watching someone sitting on a billion dollars and then setting it on fire due to their own stupidity. It would be such a waste you cannot even bear to watch it. You don't even want to be associated in absolutely any way with it. That's just how gigantic the potential is this game has created.

Also, this is all just an excuse for me to demand more lore, BECAUSE SERIOUSLY RIOT I NEED IT! In form of stories, comics, shorts, series, movies, games - I DON'T CARE BUT JUST GIVE ME THE SWEET MOONSHINE THAT IS LORE CONTENT!

I doubt this will be a one-time thing.

This page was created with the intention of having a place where you can easily find the lore,so I am pretty sure that all future lore releases will be avaliable on the universe page. And given that we've got quite a bit of updated lore this year(the targon-champs,the shurima ones,the rest of the shadow isles,all the reworked and new champs this year and it looks like we are heading for a piltover/zaun update as well),I don't see a reason to assume that next year is going to be any different in that matter.

I second this.

Lore = love = life.

I wouldn't say there was "absolutely" no new content. They did sneak in a few color pieces for Jax, Ezreal, Ekko, Fiddlesticks, Lee Sin, Tristana, Cassiopeia, and Rek'Sai.

I'm pretty sure that they're finally getting to the point they've been talking about reaching for, where all the structure is set up and they have a team ready to go and they can actually pump our lore at a decent rate. Both the universe page itself and this year in general are good signs.
