Do Minions respawn or do they die?

From a lore standpoint, is there just a vast army of expendable minions in the Nexus or is there only like 300 or so that constantly go out, die, and respawn?

I would imagine the minions just die and respawn like champions since theres already a "Death/Respawn" system in place for the champs. Why wouldn't the same force affecting them affect minions?

On the other hand, it'll be cool (or not cool I guess) if there was a huge country of minions that the League of Legends has complete dictatorship over. Then, when a battle starts, the League immediately starts conscripting thousands of minions, arming them with the simplest of tools of battle. That would mean the Nexus would just be a portal for the army's entry.

I don't know, just a thought.

The league of Legends do not exist in the new canon.

In the old canon, the minions were "puppets" created by lesser summoners, they had no feelings.

In the new lore, we dont know anything about them or the Rift.

Well, if it's a "Rift" between dimensions then I could see why. Like Super Smash Bros. if it wasn't themed after action figures duking it out in a child's imagination. Wait...WHAT IF... What if the Summoner's Rift is simply the collective imagination of 10 children (or people in general) who fight each other in their dreams? It would explain how Nocturne has so much power there, and how he was able to be in existence there in the first place. Or like how a little girl like Annie has so much power, yet swings around a HOLYFUCKINGSHITSCARY Teddy Bear/monstrosity named Tibbers. I mean really? How does fire stun? Does every Champion have a secret Furry Fetish with Ahri? Why does Varus suck? The last one can probably be easily explained but still.... That theory also makes sense because of the fact the Champions are improperly sized (good for gameplay, terrible for lore), and the deities (Azir, Renekton, Bard, etc.) have their powers so limited.

Because the minions do not respawn at the fountain like the champions... they come from their Nexus, meaning they are created... not respawn as you so theorize.

They have to have souls otherwise where else does Thresh get all of them? Unless the souls are imbued into the constructs when created. Hmm so either created or mass army it seems.

I believe that they are not sentient, and are just units made by magic.

However, it would be fascinating to find out about the darker parts of the League and have it revealed that there's a system of enslavement to obtain minions (Not that I would support it; it would just make interesting lore)
