I feel like League's story has the potential support such a thing. With such big villains as the Void, the Black Mist, Darkin, and Xerath, I feel like there is a ton of ripe potential here for something huge to happen. It's a shame all this potential isn't being put to use. I feel like every Lore event so far has only tickled us with the potential that the League of Legends lore could potentially bring to the table.

SociopathFriend1 votesWell it's not only that- Riot had made the decision to stay away from what I would call, "Hard lore". These events happened at some point, yes, but it's more like what Marvel Comics do- there's not a very specific timeline and stuff shifts around and moves to accommodate new events. It's even started happening in the movies since they mentioned Spider-Man was in Iron Man 2 as the kid.
This allows them to do what they want (which fosters creativity) without being constrained by tying it all together. I imagine this is one of the reasons there's no League of Legends comic or animated series- trying to get everything to fit together is a big chore.
Personally, I would love Void vs Shadow Isles to get an event, evil vs evil is always fun to see (along with the unquestionable Void victory wink)

RiotRiotJaredan29 votesI know this is being a tease, which is my comfort zone (just ask Necrit and his gang of lore translators), but think less of these stories as necessarily being 'events' -- which have a variety of definitions anyway.
Will these all be 'Burning Tides' style events? No. Will they be lore bundles like Demacia, etc? Maybe, probably not. However, I think just about everything on that list is something that could be either a long-form story or at least a story that can be big enough to be its own thing.
I can't be specific, and I'm sorry about that, it's purely due to production reasons and respecting the work of different teams, but we want to tell the stories you mention, as well as the stories that build toward them, and the stories that lead on from them.

I appreciate everything we have gotten so far, but I wish there was far more development of what is on the playing field currently than simply infinitely filling the world with more and more stuff.
DeathBurst9 votesI think you're looking at it the wrong way. As long as LoL is an ongoing game (and don't forget, it's still a game first), we'll never get to a climax where everything is resolved.
What's important to me is that SOME threads are regularly resolved. I don't want us to be eternally teased with no real substance ever being delivered. But if 3 or 4 big threads get resolved every year, this is still interesting in itself, even if we don't get answers for EVERYTHING.
Don't watch the show for a potential future climax. Watch the show for today's episode, because that episode has value in itself, not just as a setup for a future climax.
And honestly, if "today's episode" doesn't satisfy you in itself, just don't bother with the Lore at all. I'm not saying that to be mean, to the contrary, I just want you to save time and disappointment. If you don't like the story we get for themselves, you'll always be disappointed, because the climax will never come, so stop hurting yourself ;)

But I feel like OP is waiting for a huge climax that would the One True End of LoL's Lore, and that is never going to be a thing. Maybe I misunderstood what OP meant, but better safe than sorry, and it doesn't cost me much to warn him...
Meep Man1 votesI feel like some character's stories have to end because otherwise it will just feel really dumb if they don't end. Take Yorick for example. It's going to feel dumb if he is just endlessly chasing the Ruined King and never defeats him or at least has that part of his conflict with the Shadow Isles resolved. When a character's one and only goal is to be able to eventually move on to the afterlife and hopefully move on with everyone else they loved once, their story can only continue on for so long before it starts to get a little... tedious.
DeathBurst1 votesThen maybe Yorick will transcend and become a Spirit Protector of the Isles or something. It's not because an Arc comes to an end (the conflict between Yorick and the Mist), that the character story has to end definitively.
Of course this was just a silly example out of the top of my head. You can find literally dozens of ways to continue Yorick's story even after he saved the Isles. Or maybe he won't save them at all and will be bested by Mordekaiser and Thresh and become a new Revenant on their side. That could be another end to this conflict, and a new beginning for the character.

We (by that I mean Riot) have a lot of balls in the air, and though we have had to do some redefining and fleshing out of some of our Champions and regions that were (or still are) too amorphous (which has been valuable), we also need to pay off some of the things we've set in motion previously.
I hope we can deliver things that will excite you as much as they excite me and other folks who are burning to get them to you. I'm sorry I have to be so vague, as I often am, due to production concerns, but yeah we want you to see Ashe raining down ice from the sky, Garen standing across from Darius on a battlefield, Taliyah standing before Azir, and more.
We still have much to do. I hope we have begun to build more trust than we did particularly pre-Burning Tides, but we know there's a lot more to earn.
All I can say is that from my perspective, there are Rioters old and new challenging things in a way I haven't seen before--and that's saying something--to make these things happen.

I mean do you guys want to go with a very cape comic book style progression or more of a written novel progession? I don't mean like will there be comics or if it will be completely written but like talking about the character deaths and rebirths, retcon possibilities, and freedom. Like if you guys go with a cape comic approach and say you kill off Garen for example you might bring him back in like three months because that's always what happens to a-list characters in cape comic books :p.

Honestly, I'm finding that very concerning. I understand Burning Tides took a lot of resources and would be too difficult to do again, but to say future updates will likely be smaller then the Demacia update? I think aside from the individual champ lores, all we got was a short story involving a few of the demacian champs and an icon. It's sounding like future lore stuff is going to be reduced to nothing but color text for individual champs and that's it.
Lintu Puck1 voteswell let's also think of what we got out of Burning Tides compared to everything else When Burning Tides first hit it was massive project to tie in many things. A reworked Gangplank, adjusted lore for Bilgewater humans, 2 gameplay events, and the full blast to show the Riot was finally getting into the knitty gritty of fixing up the various lore. In short they had 3 things (GP, Game Modes, new lore path) and they wanted hit the ground running with all guns blazing. After that we have gotten a few regional reworks, the biggest being Piltover/Zaun because they timed that one for the release of Camille and Reworked Warwick, while places like The Shadow Isles and Shurima didn't really get anything because there was nothing tied to it. Demacia got the same treatment as Piltover/Zaun (new lores and an Icon) but it felt smaller since it was just 1 place and 1 rework (Galio)[and Lux's voice patch].

All I'm saying is it is starting to sound like all we will ever get are "events" where we get a few bits of color text and one character getting a second story and taking the spot light.
I was hoping with the additions of missions, we could easily have a lore like event where they have the new lore, add some in game missions that sort of ties to the lore and give an icon for completing the missions.

You have to remember, the new lore post-retcon is still in its infancy. We just got Deamcia, Piltover, and Zaun fleshed out within the past year, with Bligewater, The Shadow Isles, and Mount Targon (kind of) before that. We still have Ionia, Noxus, and the Void to be fleshed out, along with all of the smaller, lesser known areas, such as the Kumungu Jungle, Bandle City, and the Voodoo Lands (if they still exist).
We still have champs that reference the Institute of War in their lore, even though it's been about 3 years since the retcon now. That number is slowly dwindling, but it's still there. Kayle, Morgana, Malphite, and Fiddlesticks just to name a couple.
All of this is being done while production on new champs and their stories is on going. Ornn is actually the first Freljord champ we've gotten since Braum, so, I fully expect quite a bit of Freljord lore to come with him. Not to mention VGU's, which not only come with basically a new champ, but also a revamp of that character's region. Yorick brought about the Shadow Iles, Galio brought about Demacia, Camille brought Piltover, Warwick brought Zaun (also Urgot), and Swain will most definitely bring about an update to Noxus.
Riot's lore team has put a monumental task ahead of them, and it's going to take time, especially if they want to do it right. We only have about half of Runeterra fleshed out into an acceptable state, and I'd say we won't see any significant amount of lore come out until after we have it all done, which may be several more years.
I know its hard to accept, but you have to be patient here. This is going to be a long journey, and you'll have to just wait it out.

He hid behind a rock and was talking in a high, squeeky voice acting like he is Skaarl and telling Kled to invade Ionia (because having a crazy ferret on your side is always beneficial in a war).
Skaarl was desperatedly trying to tell Kled to stop murdering these cute little fox girls over there, but he just thought that Skaarl is cheerleading his victory (and that they should probably get some tacos afterwards).

Kled wanted glory and battle, noxus... well we're not too sure, but we know it was one hell of a turning point in history, considering all the champions that are related to this (a few actually having their life changed after this, like Riven, possibly Kayn? Depends on when he came in.)
