Consider this: They have a skin set that has existed for more than 3 years that I know of. IT would be silly to say they aren't friends.

The curse deflects people with lesser magic aptitude. It literally forces them back and makes them think Amumu is a monster. Annie's magic is not only strong enough to combat the curse's influence, she is able to bypass it and actually be friends with Amumu.

That is why Amumu only has Annie for a friend. Not because she is the only one who cares, she's just the only one powerful enough to counter it.

I think the whole "The curse pledged nobody would be his friend" thing is more Amumu internalizing the fact that he really must be doomed. It is a sad and dark place to be, but I've gone there before when life just sucks and you mess up your relationships and feel like you are doomed to always screw up just when you feel like life is getting to be ok. It is very easy to feel like life sucks because of this, and if you let it get to your head, you can start to introspectively rerun the whole issue over and over until every scenario you imagine turns out worse and worse and paranoia about how you act and how you affect others sets in. I don't think this is supposed to literally be the curse speaking to Amumu, but more Amumu becoming totally distressed over his plight to the point of giving the curse false sentience so that he has something he can direct his anger at.

#JUST HAD A THOUGHT about Amumu's curse...

What if..........Amumu's curse is NOT a friendship curse, but a Mental Curse.

His page for the video, and the video itself says "The curse whispered to him" that he would NEVER have any friends.

Maybe the curse, is a curse of negativity, low self esteem, etc. Hence, Annie as listed COULD be his friend but Amumu himself doesnt see or recognize the friends he has?
