It doesn't disqualify because I can see her being a body guard of Warring Kingdom 
, but to me the theme was more suited for a champion that revolves around the theme of it.
Like how 
was given the Officer theme because she's like a cop in her own city, except a violent one (but the theme applies well). I don't have an issue with her getting this theme, but champions like 
suit it better? Just my thoughts.
Actually if you look at those champions thematically, they don't fit nearly as well as Vi (being the sidekick/underling of Cait, and being less experienced). At least not if you're going along the lines of what their canon actions and motives are compared to the role Vi is filling here (which is pretty in-line with her as a character, I think).
Think about the position she's fillint-- it's subservient in a manner, she's obviously an underling to not only Garen but an Emperor!
I don't know as much about Shen so I'll leave that be, but Syndra? She wants limitless power, so much so she killed her teachers and rose their temple into the sky as her home because they tried to keep her down. You think she'd stand under anyone? Nah. (Not up to date on Wukong either so bygons-be-bygons there too..) Cass is kind of in the same boat. She was in a position of power, lost it because of her betrayal and now we see with the new Universe story about her that she spends her time slinking the darkness for drunk men, dreaming of slinking her way back up the ladder. Submissive? Not so much. And lastly, A. Sol, who I'm sure everyone is yelling would be perfect for this but if you want to look specifically at him IN PLACE OF Vi, it would make even less sense for a celestial being that creates stars out of nothing would be anywhere near okay with serving under ANOTHER fucking Runeterra dweller. He's had enough of that from the Aspects of Targon.
NOW, if you wanted to REMOVE the whole underling ideal completely, and do an entirely new thematic to fit into this skin world they've created, then I would say A. Sol COULD have possibly worked. Possibly. Though the stipulations could be that it's the year of the Rooster and not the Dragon, so it kinda doesn't make all that much sense in the end with that because if it was year of the Dragon it'd probably be an entirely different line with A. Sol at the head and Azir nowhere to be seen. Know what I'm saying?

- Guan Yu - primarily green ... but does that matter? Guan Yu is always associated with green
- Lu Bu - Black ... Lu Bu was essentially a mercenary. Most associated with Don Zhuo though.
- Zhao Yun - Shu Kingdom - meets traditional rendering expectations of whites and blues and a little green
- Diao Chan - 
- Red, red and more red ... lots of gold embelishments ... you might be right about her being Lianshi
