I think we have Jaredan's "claim to fame" set in concrete now...

Those who are known to be in charge of the Narrative department at Riot Games are best remembered not for any positive contributions to the overall story, but for the biggest disasters that stem from their tenure in the company.

  • Kitae, for instance, was responsible for the removal of the Journal of Justice, League Judgments and the Freljord disaster.
  • TommyGnox was the man behind the Great Retcon announcement and disaster as well as the removal of the summoner from the game.

However, Jaredan, Riot's Senior Narrative Editor and de facto head of the department, should forever be remembered as the one who destroyed the hardcore League Lore fan.

Simply put, Jaredan is the driving force behind pushing away hardcore lore fans, taking us completely out of the process. Unlike other Riot personnel and departments that actively encourage fan participation, Jaredan as said that he doesn't want people giving him story ideas, citing personal and unspecified legal reasons for this policy. Jaredan also has not attempted to clarify what he does want from fans who want to contribute, further pushing us out of the process and away from his precious "pride as a creative writer."

Jaredan also continues the tradition from Narrative to not say anything to lore fans, treating us with silence rather than communication and further alienating us from the story we hold dear.

And while the team has several avenues to release stories while waiting for unspecified tech issues, Jaredan and the rest of the company refuse to release content while wait for these problems to work themselves out. Instead, they wait and do work behind the scenes and not

It's at the point where even other Rioters from other departments are saying that we have every right to be upset at them for not delivering on this stuff.

So, yes, I would suggest that Jaredan should be known for destroying the hardcore lore fan and pushing us away from an active role into a passive and reactive one. Unless someone has a better suggestion, that is.

Jesus wept. So we're down to just plain demonizing narrative's named members at this point? We've evolved from having enraged but somewhat reasonable discussion to a bunch of hateful arses with pitchforks and torches? Great. Fantastic.

Also what the hell is this thread supposed to do? Vent your frustrations? Start a debate? Do anything?

...I don't even know.

You are supposed to delete hate mail once you written it all, not post it on the message boards!

Silly, billy.

I don't think its going to matter Terra. League's lore is declining steadily to nothing and Riot shows that they don't care. Not even this supposed Narrative team. Their only excuse for lack of communication is not wanting knowing how to respond to constructive threads. Really sounds like some bull shit to me.

And will only make lore on champion release. Which as of now, will just be only champion bios, seeing how bard did not get a story follow up. So we can expect the next champs to come out with just their bios.

Jaredan makes it seem like he wants to do something, and it's not even that. If he's some sort of Chief for this supposed Narrative team, he and the others are getting paid for nothing. Like seriously, wtf are they even getting paid for???

As if the community knows whats best for the narrative. They did not create the characters, Riot did.
