So about Jarvan X Shyvana

So after posting about how Shyvana could've been a Noxian in terms of lore, I then started to think about the relationship she shares with Jarvan and how apparently everyone jumped to the conclusion that they're lovers. But I'm not going to ask about how or why they should be lovers. I mean I can see the reason why people would think this: Jarvan helps Shyv by helping her kill the dragon that killed her father and offered her a spot within his nation, showing more kindness to her than any other human has since. And from that she grows an attraction to him.

Again I understand where people could get this but to me this doesn't seem to fly with me. One, she's been horribly treated by dragons and what we can assume almost every human for her entire life. Just because one shows more kindness than most doesn't necessarily mean you're going to be attracted to them, rather you just have a very close friend.

Two, judging from feedback on my recent post Jarvan only helped her simply by being moved by her story and overall trying to gain a benefit for his nation, at the same time trying to develop his nation to new possibilities of letting more non-humans in when he is king.

Three, there really isn't anything to heavily hint that there could be a connection of romance between them. Take Quinn for example. During her lore, she mentions on how when she met Jarvan she wasn't expecting him as he was. To me, and possibly many others, that's more of a hint that she has an interest in him. With Shyvana it just ends with her accepting and wondering if humans have a right to fear her. That's it.

Finally in contribution to my second statement, I don't think the nation would exactly take it well if Jarvan decided to marry her. Remember, he's trying to slowly develop his country to try and accept new ideas. Letting a half dragon into their home is kinda a big step already, most likely putting a lot of people on edge already. If he then suddenly decided to announce a relationship or marriage to her, I think their could be a huge uproar about him being king. In a way I think him marrying Quinn would be a better move for him. I mean, again, she shows interest to him, they're both from different social classes with her originally being a farm hand if I remember and him, of course, being a prince, and overall I just see that happening a lot better.

Those are just my reasons for why I don't see it. I also know that there are other shippings with her like Shyvana x Riven and whatever else is out there but these are, to me, specifically fan made shippings, as is this one. However this one is probably the biggest because people can see why it could happen and most logical to actually happen. But what I want to know is do you guys ship this? It's fine if you do or you're like me and you don't. I'm just curious about what other people have to say about this shipping.

I've always equated them as two people who have a closer understanding of who they are than anyone else. Jarvan sees Shyvana, and Shyvana sees him. It's not a case of a 'The Prince of Demacia sees a half-breed dragonborn' or vice versa. Thus, they have a closeness akin to brother and sister in arms than anything else. In this case, Jarvan's extension of a place in Demacia may seem more familial than anything else.

It puts an interesting color on Shyvana's choices in Demacia, as well. Her steadfast loyalty to her battle brother may let her endure more trouble from Demacia than she otherwise would. There is also the drama of a growing decision to leave Demacia should she not find a place there for her.

Jarvan himself is buried in political intrigue so deep he may or may not come out of it alive. The needs of the royal courts will be powerful against him in Demacia, and if he is to succeed, he is going to have to tow the line a bit. Should romantic intention exist between them, it's highly probable it'd die out or be stopped because he has to be the king for his nation.

Thus, there is a lot of different levers in their relationship with each other, Demacia, and their ultimate goals.

On a more personal basis, it never struck me that Shyvana would have a compulsion to stay in Demacia for very long. Wandering and having no place in the world is a core component of her story, and its resolution is a major turning point in who she is. The writers could make living in Demacia that thing for her, but as written, I am under the impression it's more a phase than anything. She may or may not return later, depending on how her relationship with Jarvan remains. I can't imagine them turning against each other unless someone else directly intervened and broke them apart, really.

yeah but I wonder how long shyvana will stick around in Demacia. Does she treat J4 like her foster dad after she was rescued? Or a superior officer?

Well she wasn't really rescued she just got help from him to kill the dragon, but more then likely she views him more as a superior officer as well as a brother in arms. We're only assuming that there could be more of a personal attraction between her and him.

Second I think her stay in Demacia depends on how long she's willing to be apart of it. Remember, her lore at the end states that humans still fear her a bit and she wonders if they have a right to do so. It really depends on how long she is willing to endure the fear/hate of them of her being there as well as wishing if she wants to do something else then serve Demacia her whole life.

What do you think Quinn would do to somebody like a whore/prostitute if she caught her pushing themselves or hitting on J4? This is after Quinn and J4 are married. Would Quinn strangulate or hit the woman for laying her eyes on her husband?

Uh wut? I don't think this is that great for the main discussion but if I had to guess she'd probably either address her down and back away and/or slap her. I'd think she'd only send her to prison or death if woman tried to attack her or something.

I mean't like any woman, doesn't have to be like a whore, just like any woman in general. Ouch, would that slap hurt? And address her down? As in how? And if the woman did attack her, what kind of death sentence would it be, like hanging?

First of all, ships are kinda stupid and don't really make sense. Secondly, I feel as though it's very probable that when Shyvana receives kindness from a human, and an important one at that, she then develops an attraction for him. We don't know if it's there, or reciprocated, but I feel as though it's not completely far-fetched.

You do have a good answer. She would probably have some form of attraction to Jarvan, but from my point of view its more of her actual first friend besides her father or even a respected comrade. It is probable though that there might be more of an attraction but we don't know for certain and thus we can only speculate and guess. As for your opinion on ships I also have to agree with you. But I mean it's the internet. It's kinda known for people to do this kinda shit.

I would say, as of right now, they have a strong bond of friendship. I feel as though there are hints that Shyvana wants more, but J4 is unreadable on the subject as of now.

I believe Quinn becoming Queen would break that barrier of social status that exists in Demacian society, as in the low-middle class vs the high and elite class. It could turn out to be a good story. I just hope Quinn can handle all that Demacian politics but I am sure she can since she already came so far and became an elite. Queen Quinn of Demacia sounds pretty sick too xD Jarvan V, their son would be pretty OP, imagine him as a champion? Okay, I went a bit to far there. my bad. lol. I am a geek. But yea, in the end, I think a Jarvan IV and Quinn relationship is more probable than anything and Shyvana most likely will end up doing what Xin Zhao has been doing, protecting the future king and his future queen.

This specific implication is disturbing, as it implies a weakness of character to Shyvana. While the two events tend to coincide together, to fundamentally assert an attraction because 'outcast was shown kindness' is disingenuous at best, insulting at worst, to her character (and similar people in that situation).

I would look to base her attraction, if any, to Jarvan on other qualities than 'rich prince shows kindness to pauper child' as implied.

First of all, wow, you sound so pretentious. Next, it's very normal to like someone after they do something kind to you, especially Shyvana, who has been hunted by both humans and dragons, having one of them be kind to her on a major scale, and then finding out that he's a prince, someone who is extremely high in Demacias caste system, would be humbling, at least I would feel so. I also don't see in any way how that's a insult to her character or anyone. You bring up some okay points, but try not to sound like a self-righteous jerk, it will help in discussion.

To me, I think that Shyvana has more a a friend type relationship with Jarvan, or possibly see Jarvan has her savior, a substitute to her father, father figure? They respect teach other and she guards J4 as a loyal bodyguard but that's about it. I also agree that Quinn is the best choice for J4 if he were to marry. That said, If J4 marries Quinn and Quinn becomes Queen. I will bow down to the great Queen Quinn humbly with respect and worship her like a low class peasant I am. Lol

Okay so in theory Jarvan is ACTUALLY LeBlanc, and in terms of lore she could very well owe her life to Jarvan who is actually LeBlanc, so they are lesbians, I mean i ship it, anyways, So shyv operates under the black rose but poses as a figure for demacia. C: Just a small theory

An.....interesting theory but from what I've read about LeBlanc being Jarvan it's over now. I mean from what I've read they really just needed to switch them out to try and start that war in Kalamadria or whatever it was called and that somewhat failed in the end. And even so thats still all just a theory and the current lore is being rewritten so things might have changed.

Even if LeBlanc was still undercover, I doubt she would try and have Shyv do operations for the Black Rose for trying to have her do stuff to benefit it without her knowing would be a very daunting task and trying to let her in on it would most likely result in getting the secret of her out to the public and ruin most of the organisations plans. That said it's still an interesting theory.

I mean if we are being honest, Shyvana is pretty stupid, she doesnt really think for herself in the way that somebody undevoted would be. I actually didn't know her lore was going to be rewritten :c

Ok calling her stupid is a really far stretch. She does think for herself. The only reason she actually accepted J4's offer was of course gratitude for his help and mostly because she would most likely be in more danger if she continued on her own. She still could but being around more humans and trying to earn their trust just seemed the better plan at the time. Hell, I think she could leave anytime she wanted if the citizens fear or hate of her became too great for her top bear.

And yes most of the lore is getting rewritten. Have you not been following this? Most of the Shadow Isles champs just got some new lore, Shuriman champions have gotten some new ones in the past. Right now, Riot is going through and rewriting most of the champions background and world now since the Institute and Summoners don't exist. As of now, Demacians aren't being rewritten yet but more then likely they're going to soon. Even then Riot has rewritten Shyv's lore like 3 times now, her first being her the daughter of a celestial dragon if I remember correctly.

Apparently, being a half-breed has some weird consequences, like having messed up hormone levels and suddenly feeling h*rny at random times. This doesn't really contribute anything, I'm just saying.

Anyway, I too have wondered about this ship. All I can really say is that I don't see Shyvana (or J4, for that matter) as being the kind of person who falls in love quickly, or even at the normal pace. In the end, I don't think Jarvan would fall for Shyvana, and Shyvana wouldn't even try to find love unless someone else made the first move. I just don't think that love is a priority for either of them. Even Jarvan marrying Quinn sounds pretty far-fetched to me. He seems too focused on his country and crushing his enemies to care about marriage. At some point, he'll take a wife, but for some reason I can't see that happening while Swain is still alive. That's just my take on it though.

Or we could go all leg-day again.

I'd think that the first two would be most likely though.

Why does J4 have to settle for 1 woman (quinn as you put it) when he can get a harem with countless women from all across the world? He is the prince!
