Theory Regarding Galio's VGU, Demacia Lore, and Noxus(?)

Remember back when Camille was released and we got that big lore page on Piltover? And then Warwick was reworked, and we got a Zaun lore page as a counterpart to Piltover? Here's the thing, Galio is getting his VGU soon along with a new Demacian lore page, if the Demacia icon is any indicator. Riot also mentioned that the next new champion is going to be a support, and remember the idea of a Noxian Drill Sergeant support that everyone was obsessed with?

My idea is that around Galio's VGU release, we'll get Demacia lore, and then after that we'll get a Noxus lore page for the new support, everyone's favorite NOXIAN DRILL SERGEANT.

That comment doesn't tell us remotely that the next champion is that mentioned support. In fact, his wording is particularly vague, which can indicate that said champion is probably in it's infancy and nowhere near being released in the next few months. Additionally, Meddler also said that the gap between Camille and the next champion would be longer than usual. Given that we are still within the usual space between champs (Jhin released around this time last year, if not shortly before), that means were are not through the "unusual gap" yet.

Well, yeah. We may still be in the usual space between champions, but will that stay the same by the time Galio's VGU is released? It seems a bit weird of Riot to just blurt out how they're making a support champion then not have it be next. With the exception of Ao Shin, Riot has a trend of doing things around the time they mention it or the time they mention for the changes, such as saying there's gonna be Yasuo nerfs around January, and that happened. (Not that they did a good job of it, he's still an annoying champ.)

We currently know Galio and Urgot are concurrently in production for VGUs. We know that Riot typically has 2-3 champions in various stages of production, as it can take 6-9 months for their production cycles, and that doesn't even take into account those champions who may be at the brainstorming stage. There is sufficient overlap that and so many pots in the fire that you cannot say with any certainty what Meddler is referring to. He could mean a champion due out in like July, which could come after a champion due out in April. We just don't know.

Keep in mind that the gap refers to the gap between champions,not between the champion release and the beginning of the year. Last year,the average time between champs was 2 months(some champs came 3 months after the previous,some came already after 1 month)

Camille was released on the 7th december,meaning that it'll be soon over 3 months after her release. If Galio is in the 7.6-update(the one after the current PBE-patch),then he'll come out ~22th march and if the next champ is going to come out one patch later,he/she'd come out in the early april which would be roughly 4 months after camilles release.(even more if there is a patch between Galio and the next champ)

In the last dev blog in new champions they said that there would be at least 6 champions this year and 4 VGUs which leave 10 months dedicated to new or improved champions. Now since in February nothing was released we can hope that Galio is released in patch 7.6( march 22) and will get his pbe for patch 7.5( march 8) In order to get 6 champions this year , 2 champions need to be released in April and may Urgot is released in June and the 4 champions released the rest of the year with Evelynn s vgu coming September-October So to get 6 new releases and 4 VGUs only one more month can go without a champion So Let's hope for a Galio teaser this week cause teasers usually come a month or so before a champions release

They can also release multiple stuff in one month,so they might release Urgot and a champ in june.

Keep in mind that if we get 6 champs,4 VGUs and 2 Group reworks,then they have to release some of these in the same month.

Also we already have the demacia icon on the pbe,so it is very likely that Galio will be in the next PBE-patch.

A new champion and a vgu in the same month? In recent times Bloody unlikely but sure as hell not unwanted*[slayer-jinx-catface]* But a group update can happen the same month or even the same day as a new champion release . During a vgu........not so much but hey the riot team might surprise us*[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]*

In general it is unlikely for us to get a champ and a VGU in one month,but it isn't impossible,because in the end,the champion team and update-teams work seperately from each other,so it all comes down to when they finish their projects. Especially since they said that we'll likely get more champs than usual in the later half of the year,there is a good chance that their releases will overlap a bit more.

The teams may be separate but their agendas have to adhere to schedule they drew up. Even if both teams finished a champion at once they likely won't release both at the same time unless they share a coinciding them. E.g Kayle Morgana Im aware of that comment made by riot and I took that to mean that they would release most of the champions of the year later on If we look at 2015 and 2016 and make June the middle then most releases have been half half: half released during first half of the year and half released during the second By having 2 released in the beginning and four released in the end then that would also link with riots comment on releasing more champions later on in the year But hey I could be wrong and 7 new champions and 4 VGUs would be awesome*[zombie-nunu-hearts]* That is assuming Evelynn is this year cause 11 months for releases but 1 more month may go without a champ So Vgu + group update:🤔 Vgu + new champ: 😑 New champ + group update: 🤔 2 champions + same month: 🙏🏿

They likely would avoid releasing a champion and a VGU in the same patch,but having 2 of them one after the other is likely ok(and since we have at least 2 patches every month,they could still release them in the same month).

Buuut anyway,there is still enough time for them to release a bunch of stuff this year,so even if i'm wrong and they really will only release one champ/vgu every month,there is still enough time for that.

Well, if we're going from Galio into Urgot, it might be a good time for a Demacia/Noxus lore update rather than pure Demacia.

No one said that the next champion is a support. Where are you getting this information from? The only thing I heard about a support was that they had an idea of a more traditional support for this year, but there was no timeline attached to it.

It goes off what Meddler said, it didn't mention the NEXT champion being a support but I see it as likely because we haven't gotten a traditional support in a while, with Ivern being the closest thing we got to a support. Also, what I said about the Noxian Drill Sergeant being an idea I've heard and said a lot about before.

Reference for both you and me: In addition to all the champions in 2016 discussion, Meddler also mentioned there will be a new support champion in 2017 who works well in a duo lane: "We intend to release a champion this year who should work well in a traditional support playstyle (focus on helping allies/hindering enemies rather than damage, works well in a duo lane)." Meddler continued: "My phrasing there's to distinguish between the support position and what many players refer to as supports (the buff/heal giving types we refer to internally as enchanters). I certainly think the champ in question will get play primarily in in duo lanes and be most effective with an ally to lane with."
