new Amumu lore feels unsatisfying

There was this type of lore which rito use a lot: Amumu: he is lonely and no one knows who he is. Rammus: he wonders around the dessert, no one knows about him. Bard: it roams around the world, no one knows about him.

new amumu lore basically talks some rumor about him, but still, unsatisfying.

I really like what the lore team is doing overall. I'll lead with that, because I agree with you. While I really, really like the air of mystery around Amumu, it doesn't really tell us much about Amumu.

This kind of ties in with the recent trend to do these legendary beings; they aren't fitting in to the game so well, imo. People keep talking about how champions like AurelionSol and RekSai aren't even the right size in-game... it really ruins the charm for me. League was cool as a game where you got to pit those personalities against each other, but when you have to reduce their power from lore to fit them into the game, it just feels lame... The same could be said of Kindred and Tahm Kench.

I realize that has little to nothing to do with your point about Amumu, but I felt like it's kind of a similar case of the story team making a similar mistake. In all these cases, they are writing cool stuff. But they've forgotten that what drew people to league in the first place was that the story TIED INTO THE GAME DIRECTLY. It doesn't anymore, and that's a serious offense. It isn't something that will make me quit playing... but it is something that makes me less invested in it.

He is supposed to be mysterious, what they can't have some mystery in the game?

Amumus lore is so badass, even if we don't learn much about him you can't deny the chills at the last line.

I feel you - the new lore is very well written indeed and I was immersed by the Azir and Xerath lore; however, in Amumu's updated lore it pretty much writes him to being a figure of mythology and rumours as opposed to being a real character that people could associate with.

Amumu is pretty much left ambiguous by his identity which is understandable considering some people consider him to be a human while others a yordle, but at the end of the day - his lore says very little about him as a character other than the fact that he's a figure of misery and loneliness.

The only way I can play him is by imagining he's actually an evil little sadist who also happens to be the best actor in Runeterra. No matter which rumor is true, it's depressing stuff.

i think they should have atleast told us if he is a yordle or not. i know what they are trying to do, it is a "leave it up to the reader" type of deal, but the problem is that stories like these are never completed which makes me wonder why they rewrote the lore in the first place when it basically says exactly what the old lore of Amumu already told us.

i guess we can put together clues, like for example in all of the stories he is a emperor/ruler with followers. if i am to draw my own conclusion here, and if i am to go off of the "greed and tears" story and being the true tale of how Amumu was discovered and unearthed, then i will say he was apart of a tyrannical leadership by his parents.

Amumu himself is actually a good child, but the deeds of his family/parents were the complete opposite of himself. this is why some people mourned for amu while other celebrated him in the last picture seen by khaldun. Whoever hated his family put a curse on his entire family, including the innocent amu.

his entire family died and he was the only one left. as wicked as the curse is and whoever put it on his family in the first place knew how much Amumu loved to be around his people, so when he finally died from the curse it revived him in a mummified state and cursed him even further to forever be alone in the world. not having any friends or enemies, just complete loneliness.

i assume he got the worst of the curse because as the youngest he would be the last ruling emperor of shurima with his entire family dead, and whoever hated his family enough to place the curse did not care how kind hearted amu was compared to the rest of his family.

thats just my own drawn conclusion. Im sure it will just add to the many tales he already has, but alot of the stories point to him and/or his family being rulers, and curses are usually put on people that are hated even if the descendants are completely innocent.

one question that needs to be answered tho is how powerful IS his curse exactly? if im to take it litterally then amu is the most powerful league champion lore wise. if anyone comes near him they die, regardless of mortality. in one of Kindred quotes to amu it would seem even kindred is afraid of of going near him, and they ARE death. all champions that have interactions with amu, regardless of how powerful, are afraid to go near amumu.

so basically Kindred cant even grant amu peace of death because they themselves cant get near him to do so. its an interesting thought.
