Without that his mind is still lost somewhere between past, present, future and all variations of it.
Or did he end up in some place "beyond" time? Does he crash into Ekko occasionally? Does he end up in Alternative Universes? Just what keeps him stable?
Seriously, this is a question unresolved since the retcon...
LordHippoman1 votesI'm sure his lore will eventually be updated to include some sort of new way he's searching for a cure, now that the IoW is gone, but yes, for now, presumably, Zilean is just completely doomed.

I personally would wish for his lore to be combined with Ekko's. So the boy accidentally stumbles over the old man when he does a time leap and drags him out into reality again and then finds a way to somehow crudely fixate him.
Oh this would make an interesting lore event. Ekko would require special tech and part for building a proper anchor with Zil's instructions, and that would require him to rob some Chem Barons or the Herald. And THESE GUYS would also be very interested in time technology...
