Can we get some cannon insight into certain champions' relationships?

What I mean by that is that there are certain relationships between champions that we know exist but know very little about.

Here's a few examples:

Lux and Fiora

Zed and Syndra

Kog'Maw and Malzahar

The members of the Black Rose (LeBlanc, Swain, Vladimir, and Elise)

Yorick, Maokai, and Kalista

Karma, Irelia, and Syndra

Ahri and Wukong

Poppy and Galio

I know that many of us can put two and two together with most of these relationships, but only to a certain point. What I mean by that is we can only get a very loose feel for certain ones; it might just be a simple as "They have X in common, so they probably get along" or "They have opposing goals, so they hate eachother". Others we may have a bit more of a clue about, but still leave too much to the imagination.

I honestly think that expanding on these relationships are too big of an opportunity to miss.

EDIT: Allow me to reiterate: It's not that I don't understand the basic concepts of their relationships, but I'd like to see a bit more fleshed out interaction between them.

I would add Zed and Akali to the list as well.

In the old lore Kogmaw went to Valoran thanks to a portal created by Malzahar (... by accident as far as i remember.)

The relationship between Galio and Poppy was from the old lore, but now they are friend because she is the one that "doesnt change" (And by that i mean that Galio sleeps for centuries, when he wakes up, the only "person" that has not changed in all those centuries is Poppy because she is a yordle)

Fiora is rival of the familly of Lux (and Garen) because a marriage or something like that... i dont remember the details.

The members of the Black Rose (LeBlanc, Swain, Vladimir, and Elise)

We're getting that soon.

I am honestly considering freezing myself until Swain gets updated.

A lot of the "Friends and Rivals", as they were called when they first came out, were basically just page filler and not totally canon, unfortunately. Some of these are pretty interesting, though.

  • Someone from House Crownguard is the one who ratted out Fiora's dad, so she's probably just got a bit of a grudge against them in general. Or, given Lux's talent for espionage, it could have been her, although I find it a little shocking to think Lux of all people would sell someone's secret out.

  • Zed and Syndra is a really baffling one because Syndra's whole situation makes it very difficult for her to interact with anyone. The most support that one gets is that Korean fan-comic, which isn't by Riot and really doesn't try to adhere to the canon (Thresh gives Zed relationship advice, Swain is in disguise tearing up at a Sona concert, which admittedly SHOULD be canon).

  • Koggles was basically Malzahar's puppy in the old Lore, he just followed him around. I don't know if that's the case anymore, that's just some Journal of Justice stuff.

  • Black Rose should hopefully get covered with the Noxus update.

  • Maokai, Yorick, and Kalista all have very good reasons to hate the Ruined King, and at least Maokai and Yorick are actively working to try and restore the Blessed Isles. I could see them teaming up, but I don't think they've done so yet.

  • Karma and Irelia are Ionian authority, Syndra hates Ionian authority, but I don't think they've actually interacted.

  • Ahri and Wukong is more actually possible now because they're both Vastayan, but I imagine they were added as Friends first because "welp, they're both animal people". Maybe their paths will cross in the new Lore?

  • Poppy and Galio is also original Lore stuff, but I would love to see that expanded on and kept into their new forms.

I am somewhat infamous on reddit and sometimes here with my obsession over old Swain, Black Rose, and LeBlanc lore.

But considering Swain's upcoming VGU and everything, I'm hesitant to restate it all again, considering there would be new lore by next year, and honestly I would just wait on that and no longer fully speculate on the old lore between Swain and LeBlanc.

Fair to say, it was very extensive and detailed, the most detailed of any inter-character relationships, but it was obscured by being hidden in the Journal of Justice mostly.

Although, one aspect that's likely to remain 'canon' is the bit shown on the Sion Rebirth Teaser website. LeBlanc alludes to the whole thing with Kalamanda (the Dominion map/event), where she disguised herself to look like Jarvan IV to instigate a battle between Demacia and Noxus and she and Swain pretended to fight (the Journal of Justice had a special big piece of art of the battle, and her face was shown in the reflection on Swain's breastplate).

From their conversation, apparently she, and by extension the Black Rose, has been helping Swain to reach this point. She remarks that Swain doesn't seem to be 'visiting' as much as before, which might hint that Swain is deliberately distancing himself from the Black Rose more now that he's Grand General. Regardless, he asks for her help with waking up Sion, she acquiesces and gets Vladimir to help with that.

Should also be noted, in the old lore Swain is shown to have been part of the Black Rose once. From LeBlanc's original League Judgement, she remembered a scene where she met Swain to discuss, well actually about **him **oddly. Swain wore the Black Rose ring to his meeting with her, congratulated her on becoming Matron, made small talk.

So the implication is that Swain was a member of the Black Rose before, he knew the current LeBlanc before she became Matron, and he met her after she became Matron to discuss further plans. LeBlanc notably held his hand and sounded upset or sad that Swain did something to abandon his previous identity, becoming who/what he is now, referring to his current status + the whole demon raven thing. Swain mentions he made the sacrifices 'for us'. This meeting is really the point the two of them started the plan to get Swain to become the Grand General.

But really, how much of this shared history/connection is going to remain with Swain's VGU? Who knows really. Even though the Sion Reborn teaser seems to confirm at least some aspects do remain, it definitely can shift come next year.

Honestly, LeBlanc would also need some revamping and updates as well to her lore, because at this point it's going to come mostly from Swain's VGU and I don't know how much they can possibly cover.

Personally, I like their relationship. It is absolute fascinating the different ways the old Riot writers insinuated little bits of their actions and relationship in bits of lore, that was just lost on a lot of people because it was a little too obscure.

Like, I'll give another example, once in the Journal of Justice, there was a clearly fake 'reader's letter'. This 'reader's letter' was addressed to LeBlanc, and basically says (paraphrasing a bit) "ravens do not make good garden protectors, they would sooner (leave) once the winds bear them high". This letter was from a disgruntled Black Rose member who clearly a) did not like Swain being involved and b) believed Swain would either abandon or betray them as soon as the opportunity came, and tellingly c) implies that the whole decision to even involve Swain was LeBlanc's decision alone, without full support from all the Black Rose.

So many little things get implied and hinted. I loved that way of lore building. But it made it so spread out, that only those actively seeking these bits out ever realized they were there in the Journal of Justice.

Heck LeBlanc was Swain's date at a ball in his honor, stated by the Journal as really 'hanging off his arm' the whole time . Granted, she may have been an illusion but it's amusing because seriously, how many other champions have legitimately been stated to actually go out together to do anything other then battling?

I welcome more explicit lore, so that I don't have to hunt down obscure little articles like this and have to summarize it for everyone to piece together.

But you kinda lose a lot ambiguity and a kind of depth when you make it more obvious. I always think that Swain and Leblanc is one of the best written relationships and interaction simply because we're not entirely sure what exactly is the relationship between them.

Now that Talon's been written out of Quinn's bio I wonder what the dealio is between them. I get it's probably a Noxus vs. Demacia thing, but why him out of all other Noxians? Hope we get a short story involving the two one day :)

Fiora was suppose to marry one of the dudes from Crownguard family (not named who and it was arranged) but instead she showed up at the wedding saying she rather die before she do that. Crownguard family saw it as a disrespect and disgrace and things got worse after Fiora's father tried to cheat his way out of a duel that was suppose to their redemption.

that could be one reason lux and fiora would be rivals but i highly doubt it , maybe fiora hates lux but lux has a gentle nature i dont thinks she holds a grudge for something like that. she doesnt look very happy with her family and demacia ways either as she has secrets of her own that not even her family might overlook! besides she is not the "you disgraced my family" type of person judging by her short stories and her lore , maybe if it was garen.

I have a feeling that in most cases you can write these off as champions not knowing eachother or of eachother. Demacia is a big place, ionia is a big place, not everyone in those places is going to know everyone else.
