Since hextech crystals are often containers of Brackern-souls or fragments of it...

... wouldn't it theoretically possible to communicate with them? Sure, you would either need a strong telepath or a technological bridge that fulfils that function, but it shouldn't be impossible.

The only question is what the crystal had to say... if they even remember their past experiences or if they have completly changed into the form of the tool they are used in now. Like, let's take the crystal that powers the hammer of Jayce: would it be like "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME, MORTAL?!" or more like "Yo I'm your badass hammer, finally I get to talk to you. Btw, you're kind of a douche sometimes. Also, I demand a proper politure and repairs every single evening, or I refuse to function for you!"

Having sentinent weapons is not exactly anything new, the concept exists and the Darkin are living proof of it. Could Jayce's hammer be theoretically a proto-darkin then? Imagine if the sentinence inside the crystal would actually develop through interaction (as opposed to now where it seems to be in isolated coma), and it was actually able to influence its users?

Or wait, maybe that's already happening and the radiation from his hammer is already changing Jayce's mind in a way we don't know yet?

The implications of all this might reach further than we had thought...

Potentially yes, but the Piltovans have had a couple of centuries at least to try and have yet to. Plus given the money flowing through Piltover that they want to then put IN to hextech, I doubt the clan masters will really give much of a toss. So what if a few scorpion monsters are actually concious beings? Worse things happen in Zaun!

And of course this is why Skarner should get to Piltover as soon as possible; to save his kind and murder all the damn pilties.

Never trust a piltie.

I am actually working on a champion concept to exact that question. ^^ She will be a supporter from Piltover, famous for her incredible talent to analyse given data. She is oftenly working with Caitlyn, but just communicating with her over a device while she is sitting in safety somewhere and giving instructions.

And to analyse her data she built a device to calculate, which is of course driven with one of these hextech crystals. She didn't expect what happened, after some time someone was starting to talk to her by that device.

I am just not sure if people would be interested in that kind of backstory.

Jayce's hammer is powered by a single tiny shard of a hextech crystal. The rest of the crystal was destroyed in his duel with Viktor. This tiny shard still has energy, so presumably part of a Brackern's conscious soul still resides within. Is it really going to anything but scream?

I think the crystal would react with the "want have you done to US", remember the crystal contains the Brackern's memories of every single one to possess the crystal and as well acts as their source of powers/magic. However, beyond that if there is incompatibility I think the crystal would just continue to wail, if it even is possible for them to become 'sentient', we have some of these that are literally ppl's hearts, imagine your heart just starting talking random in battle. Though I can see the memories of the crystal syncing with someone like Ekko and he gains knowledge of ancient Runeterra and tge rune wars. This also begs the question, why can Ekko manipulate time it was an accident by which he discovered the power, but why only him? There are hundreds of these things in Piltover, was it by chance the power of his crystal, was the power of time manipulation? If so, want powers do the crystals of other champions posses and what of Skarner, although we can assume only Ekko possesses an entire crystal.

I mean, you're more likely to hear it if you are magically inclined. Most people can't hear it, but Rakan, as a Vastayan can hear a song. He may not understand them fully, but he can hear the song playing by the crystal in Jayce's hammer. Since humans are naturally mundane, they'd be some of the last entities to understand or communicate unless they're a mage with magic flowing through them.

Taliyah can probably speak with Skarner on an emotional lvl.

Now because of you I can't stop imagining Jayce's hammer speaking with a Jamaican accent, constantly nagging his owner about "getting out of the lab and smashing some bomboclat".
