I recall both of them got a quote that vaguely refers about the other.....are Jinx and Vi sisters?

Both of them have dialog that talks about them having a sister. But no mention of who that sister is.

The Piltover shopkeeper on Howling Abyss tells Vi "You look like your sister!" Vi and Jinx do not look similar. To be honest this quote may have just been a teaser for a potential future champion that was scrapped.

Jinx's quote is "You think I'm crazy? You should see my sister!" This doesn't tell us much other than Jinx believes her sister to be more crazy than she is. That or Jinx is just saying that because she's crazy.

So no, it's very unlikely that they're sisters. They're related in the sense that they were both part of a gang in Zaun. After a robbery of theirs almost killed a bunch of miners Vi left them to instead fight crime.

Jinx left the gang to chase after Vi. Mostly because Jinx went insane. Was it Zaun chemicals in the air, or was she just messed up to begin with? Perhaps Jinx even thought of Vi as a sister despite them not being related.

I genuinely believe they are sisters. Core facts for the 100th time:

  1. Jinx says she has a sister. Shopkeep in ARAM says Vi has a sister but Vi doesn't respond.

  2. Jinx and Vi and Ekko were all part of the same gang. VI, X, and I think Ekko was XII.

  3. Jinx and Vi are both factually from Zaun.

The answer is in here somewhere.

  1. Vi and Jinx have the same personality type (highly compulsive and violent individuals).

Let's look at the situation. I believe they are sisters, why?

Logical deductions looking at "Director Design Choices": They were released close together, and while correlation is not causation, I think Jinx was released as the answer to: Vi "having a sister." That shopkeeper in ARAM dialogue was something released officially released with VI with her full game debut. I suggest that Riot was intentionally trying to create some sort of hype for a character down the road, and Jinx fits the description and is not released so far of Vi in the future, that Riot would have forgotten (2012-12-19/2013-10-10). Also consider that Jinx is specifically conceived as Vi's foil and nemesis. I don't think these two are related superficially, I think they were built with full intention of being related more integrally- and this has been proven true. Vi and Jinx now have a shared history as together being part of a gang of orphans from Zaun.

From an analysis of fiction and Q&As:

The shopkeeper on ARAM says Vi looks a lot like her sister. While some people arbitrarily cry that these characters look nothing like one another let's look at the facts. Jinx is a soul in distress who had probably been living in Zaun for most of her life which would explain why she's so darn pale. So skin tone wise, both Vi and Jinx are white girls. The two girls are non-magical, so their hair color is something we are required to neglect: these women dye their hair so we can't really tell their original hair colors. The girls are stylistically built to contrast one another. These girls also cannot be compared by eye color because Jinx is either wearing contacts or underwent some sort of biological experiment- the latter would explain how she went insane and both would explain why her eyes are a color that isn't native to the human condition.

The shopkeeper on ARAM acknowledges he's "not supposed to talk about that." Consider it's a sensitive subject, but listen to his delivery. I think he suggests that Vi doesn't know she has a sister. How would someone forget about their sister: consider these lines of ambiguity from Vi's lore:"The force of the blow blasted away the rock. With the workers free to escape, Vi fled the scene. After that job gone wrong, Vi severed her connection to the crew. She returned to a life of solitary crime, but stole only from other criminals." Vi bashed around in a cave...I don't think it's a stretch to say she may have received a significant cranial injury from falling rocks. Vi fled then fled and "severed" her connections with the group- it doesn't say she quit the group. My argument is that "sever" is an odd verb and that it can be read as intentionless. By this I mean that we should consider the idea that Vi didn't quit the group, but simply disappeared and stopped being part of the gang because she forgot. "Sever" is an objective verb used by the narrator of Vi's lore- it is something that the narrator has noticed (it is not an action filled with intent).

Now consider that Jinx is insane, how and why? Let's just jump to a conclusion and say she was probably experimented on in Zaun. Okay so does Jinx go insane after her gang or before her gang? I'm willing to bet after- considering her face is on the monument to Ekko's past.

So...Jinx knows she has a sister...is experimented on: so this experimentation makes Jinx maniacally obsessed with her sister? Consider that Jinx mimics Vi's color scheme- but flips the primary around in order to act as a twisted parody. Don't disregard reason or rhyme. We must remember that Jinx sought out Vi and makes herself Vi's nemesis. Why would anyone do this? I don't think Jinx is just crazy, I think this is a weird case of_** REACTION FORMATION**_. My idea is that whatever sick experiments Jinx suffered, they had some adverse side-effects- now she's out to ruin her sister's day, every day, forever.

I think Jinx is far too obsessed with Vi to not have some fundamental connection to her.

Jinx has a quote about her sister being even more crazy than her and the purple shopkeeper on the Howling abyss says that vi looks just like her sister, but there isn't much else that hints at them being sisters.

I mean the fact that Vi supposedly looks like her sister would actually speak for the 2 not being sisters, since Jinx was pretty much designed to not look like VI

No, because Jinx's sister is Riven. (Potential) albinism aside, how else do you think she carries all those guns?
