Map Update ... and World Expansion?
I'm just going to try and keep this as short as possible. The world map is just an eyesore right now. It's heavily outdated and does accurately depicts anything anymore. Apparently all the islands ( Shadow Isles, Ionia, Bilgewater) are now on the East side of Valoran from what I can tell. Hell, it's been what 2, 3 years since Riot said that they would update the damn thing? How long does it take? Or are they too busy turning League more into a competitive team sport? Seriously, it shouldn't take this long. Just take some artist, a handful of people from the lore department, sit them down in a room and tell them "We've dragged you away from your current work just so you can update the map quickly" and then give them like a month or two, three tops, to finally update it. Seriously the small clip of the Freljord map is probably the closest thing to an updated map that we've gotten so far.
The second thing is more of a suggestion to both Riot and the community: when they do finally update the map, should they also expand the world of League? Don't get me wrong, Valoran is a pretty good place for everything to take place but the more I look over the map the more I wonder if that's really the world. Think about it. Valoran on Runterra alone is basically the one and only giant land mass on a giant ocean based planet right now. Are there no other super continents out? Is all of life on Runterra limited to this one piece of rock floating in a vast ocean for all around everywhere? Just adding another landmass, like to the west of Valoran since the Shadow Isles moved apparently, could make a huge distance. It could help expand the world, see new civilizations and cultures, new ideas and creations for champions, try and keep things fresh lore-wise and gameplay-wise. It could even be like they discover the place like how Columbus did with America (except for everything that came afterwards). This could even add more lore to Runterra actually rather then just Valoran because as of right now I've kinda just made it so Valoranis Runeterra just because there isn't any other locations around and there really doesn't feel like any difference in using either term. Having an extra continent, however, can break that difference.
The map we can all agree needs an update now but the expanding the world is just a preference of mine and I want to know what you guys think.
