Do people want more Visual Updates? (Twitch, Karthus, etc.)

So about a month ago I made a post asking if people want more Visual Updates. The overall response was good and after looking at what people said and the numbers I figured I'd share it and get something nice for Riot to consider in the future.

First the poll numbers. Out of the 135 people that did leave a vote, 109 voted for yes in regards to more VUs while 26 voted no. That is about 81% of voters in favour of more VUs. I hoped more would vote to give a larger sample size but that still shows a good mind set of the communities thoughts. If this was opened to more people I'd imagine the figure would drop to closer to 60% realistically.

As to what most people said, I think it's fair to say when we get a full VU, it's really fresh and exciting. Although the core champion doesn't really change, the fresh coat of paint can help a lot of champions feel modern and just better suited for the current game. One issue that did bring me to make this post a while back and do this follow up was Riot's belief people don't want VUs at all. Although I do agree, most people would rather have a VGU over a VU, there is a lot of champions that will remain memes or jokes until a later date.

These are good examples of champions that are all considered fine in a lot of ways whether you like it or not, with kits that will probably not have any major changes but will be left looking like jokes or just outdated for ages until Riot has time. Sometimes, just a VU is needed to help a champion out. I just hope Riot will consider that in the future as they move forward.

I think the main issue here is that the boards community doesn't represent the global League community as a whole. Sure, maybe a lot of us here on the forums would love to get more pure VUs, but the actual numbers seem to say otherwise.

IMO, the resources spent towards making pure VUs would be better served in making full VGUs. Heck, even if they hired a completely new team of Rioters just to make VUs, I'd prefer if they just converted it into a VGU team so we could get bigger and better changes faster.

Oftentimes, champions like Xin Zhao -- while seemingly not in need of any gameplay or thematic changes -- could actually be much more successful if their theme was taken to the next level. Xin's theme for example is kind of confused between 'seneschal', which is a steward or officer who looks over a particular family (in this case Jarvan's), and 'gladiator' (which his gameplay seems to imply more than anything). Rather than solving this identity crisis inherent within his current art, theme, and gameplay, a VU would just postpone it for a later date, which is why I take issue with pure VUs. I'd much rather they take a good, hard look at Xin's character and come up with a new cohesive kit built around that (is he a protector/warden-like steward? or a brawly, diver-like gladiator?) rather than spending resources on delaying the best version of Xin that there can be.

XinZhao is getting an actual Gameplay Update with kit changes this fall. He's a stat stick right now.
