And what did they do to make it need to be hidden away? I'm very curious about this since the advantages that Zed's technique brings are something that would seem like something the Kinkou Order would use. I mean, it's not darker techniques, as seen with Akali with Shadow Dance, aren't just outright forbidden. Who invented this technique and what did they do to make it have to be locked away to be forgotten by time?

There is actually no clue on who first created this technique, i guess we can only guess that it was deemed dangerous to the Balance by the Kinkou Order in the past and it was locked away. Supposing that the shadow technique draws strenght from emotions (similar to how the Dark Side of the Force works) we can understand why such a technique was considered dangerous. Right now we can only speculate about it, perhpas we might hope to learn something when we get to a Ionian lore event.
Maybe it's more than just Technique and the Shadow powers of the user in some way harm him or his sanity.
