Well skin sale is their source of income, its most logical option to make skins for popular champions. THey dont make skins so you can whip out your donger at Star Guardian Urgot and have fun. They make skins to sell them. If u opened a bakery, would u make popular pasties that sell or would u make something that doesnt sell just because u didnt make it in a while? They are company, business. Their goal is to make money. Its not "money whore", its business.
It's a business. They have literally always been in it to make money. Sure they do other fun things for their own amusement but even those things need to get a niche market to buy the product.
Getting angry at them for catering to the people which allow their company to function is self defeating.
Now don't get me wrong here. I too have been stung by them focusing on selling to popularity. And while that's annoying, it's mostly the cost of existing as a business.
