This Ornn promotional stuff has made me significantly more interested in Volibear

I didn't think that I would ever see Volibear in any sort of lore because everything I read from Riot ranges from "we don't know what to do with him," to "he's not built for esports" to "we didn't really think it through when we made him." So I am pleased to see him beating up Ornn so often because he is a champ I personally enjoy. Hopefully in the next 15 years we get a Freljord event kin to the royal where somebody finally gets to be in charge of that area.

I'm curious what the rewrite for Volibear's lore is gonna be. With the lore on Ornn and his reactions and such, it implies that Volibear should be a demi-god as well.

I personally think Volibear is going to not be as much of a "brute" as people think. I think each demigod represents the contributions to the world and Volibear was underappreciated. Ornn is the earth, Anivia is the wind, and the Seal Sister is the sea/water. Volibear is storms/rain, which many in the Freljord felt was a bad thing with blizzards and what not. They did not consider the rejuvenation to the earth Volibear brought. So, Volibear became jealous of how the other demigods got followers just by existing, so he became angry and warlike.

Volibear has been made 100 percent more interesting than in his old lore. I think he's significantly more fun because he is just in a constant war frenzy at every turn and flipping the dining room table over on a whim instead of a thoughtful leader who consults with other leaders about safety. I want to read about him fighting absolutely everything and everyone, like Warwick but with a lot of fun one liners.

I like the idea of a Freljord Pantheon. I hope they also develop characters that aren't immediately made into champions.

Another interesting idea is, since we know the Freljord Gods are real, that other cultures might interpret them differently. For example, the Seal Sister might end up being the Bearded Lady of Bilgewater or something. That'd be neat.

I feel the need to add onto this, if what you explained winds up as the truth then this would mean his alliance with Sejuani is still canon. Sejuani believes the storms strengthen the people of the Freljord, Volibear is the storm God, makes sense. Also this calms my worries that Sejuani would become some follower of Volibear and not seen as an equal by him.

I feel like there are so many different levels of demi-gods in the league lore that I don't even know if the title means much anymore. I'm just happy he's kicking in doors, punching champions in the face and taking their cool stuff with an army of whoever behind him. That's somebody I want to read more about.

People are upset that he is no longer just an armored bear shaman guy anymore. But I like an actual reason as to what he is. I'm sure the ursine still exist and they are just the people that have evolved into bearmen that follow him now. He still fills the role of leading them and such so not much has actually changed other than maybe how strong volibear is since now he is going to be considered a demigod. I think his is there way of making his not vastayan since I think they want to keep the vastayan more of an Ionian thing for the most part. I wonder if the people who follow volibear and have been transformed into whatever they are in the ornn stories are considered vastayan though.

I doubt they are. The Ursine don't appear on the vastaya family tree and they likely have no connection to the ancestors of the vastaya

I mean, in the end, Winter's Claw still sounds like a reference to those monstrosities. Ugh. Ursine sound a WHOLE lot less civil now. Makes me wonder how bad trolls are. Probably not that much since they "supposedly" have a higher mental capacity, but still. Ursine are a scary pack. They also sound HORRIFICALLY different than the originals. I mean, supposing that Volibear is toted as a bear that can walk on its hind two legs and talk, then the Ursine as a race will definitely look different as they were transformed monstrosities. Like, they aren't as clean looking as a behemoth of a polar bear with lightning, swords, spears, etc stabbed at him.

Yeah I picture them as almost a werebear. They are in the elder scrolls universe and I think they are pretty vicious looking. Since Warwick is no longer technically the werewolf trope of the game maybe the ursine are more so seen as the werewolves of the universe here. They seem vicious and savage compared to what an actual tribe is like. A lot of werewolves in shows and films like to show a side of werewolves that the people with the curse enjoy it and let it take over and consume them. Maybe that's what the ursine are.

They really should've reworked him in the tank update or whatever it s called... His design and concept is great but... for me he is just another Skarner : a champion I love but that makes me hate Riot even more because they just mess around with him

I'm really hoping they will do a small rework + art update together with the release of his part of the story. Always like Voli, but he just has so many flaws.
