Why is Ekko a street rat?

Like, really. He invented a goddamned time machine in a city where, supposedly and by Ekko's own beliefs, values effectiveness over social standards. Viktor, Singed, Mundo, all considered great scientists on their fields for things that are trivial compared to the power of reversing time.

Why isn't Ekko trying to sell his invention? Did he try before and was shunned? This isn't really the type of thing that can be attributed to adults not listening to a kid. It's a TIME MACHINE. All he has to do is show it off, maybe go ahead in time and grab an object that's right in front of the person he's speaking to. Zaun should be mass producing this stuff. That kid shouldn't have to worry with anything for the rest of his life, yet he's at the state where he has to send a friend of his to steal food.

And if no one really listens to him and that's why he's poor, then why does he hold Zaun to such high valor?

Could it be that he's poor because he wants to be poor? And why would that be?

Ekko doesn't have the connections ot important people.I bet that if he tried to sell his invention,someone would plagiarize it(heck this happened to viktor,despite the fact that Viktor is a renown scientist).

I also think that ekko fears what would happen if others had access to such a machine. Just imagine how difficult the life on the street would be for the orphans(who seemingly have to steal food to survive)if the police was able to reset time.

Not to mention that ekkos invention is possibly dangerous for the space-time-continuum.

And he holds Zaun so high because it is still the place where he was born,lives and where all his friends live. Its most likely also a result of Piltovians thinking they are better than zaunites,driving ekko to defend its name.

Singed has powerful Contacts I.E. Is friends with Warwick and is a contractor for Zaun's Protectors and main customers Noxus, Mundo is more of a well known Serial killer then a respected member of society, and Viktor has a cult, for all it's preaching Zaun is about power not freedom, if Ekko ever revealed his invention someone would take it,

  1. He can't go ahead in time, only back
  2. Why would he give away his invention to the hand of some of the people he hates most?
  3. Theres no guarantee he'd walk away alive after that. Using a Z-drive is no good if your opponent has one too.
  4. He believes in the ideal of Zaun. He just hates the people who represent it right now.
