@Jaredan/Riot What Is Tahm Kench, Exactly?

I work over on the League Wiki, and every champ gets their own infobox, detailing their name and title, race, occupation, affiliation, etc. Some champion races are a bit sketchy since we've never been given their race's official name. Since Tahm Kench was just released, the wiki's abuzz with editing his page. I haven't seen any Riot Q&A for Tahm thus far, so I'm hungry for even the smallest details.

I understand if he's a unique being totally without kin, but what do you guys consider him? He's sometimes referred to as a demon (which would be the first time demon has been explicitly used in LoL lore), and even in his champ selection quote he calls himself that.

It's purely academic and utterly trivial, but I'd like something to chew on.
