@Jaredan/Riot What Is Tahm Kench, Exactly?

I work over on the League Wiki, and every champ gets their own infobox, detailing their name and title, race, occupation, affiliation, etc. Some champion races are a bit sketchy since we've never been given their race's official name. Since Tahm Kench was just released, the wiki's abuzz with editing his page. I haven't seen any Riot Q&A for Tahm thus far, so I'm hungry for even the smallest details.

I understand if he's a unique being totally without kin, but what do you guys consider him? He's sometimes referred to as a demon (which would be the first time demon has been explicitly used in LoL lore), and even in his champ selection quote he calls himself that.

It's purely academic and utterly trivial, but I'd like something to chew on.

Yo Dragonzzilla I double-checked with the writer on Tahm Kench and he is in fact a demon. A river demon to be specific; "One of a kind." as he might sa... "You ain't never laid eyes on a person of my particular design." what the!? Tahm how did you get in h... "Ain't no place I ain't been."

well, aatrox was pretty much out right a demon of war, so theres that, but as far as tahm goes, i get a very crossroads demon/ deal maker vibe

[Fan talk follows] Yes! And Tahm refers to Aatrox as 'brother' instead of talking down to him, suggesting that they are both ancient powers (although not the same kind). I don't know how long Bard has been around but it's interesting to see how their appearances seem to be heralded by events: Aatrox is drawn to battle, Bard intervenes on the edge of calamity, and Tahm manifests when people are desperate.

So in short aatrox and tahm are basically distantly related species of demon is what I'm to understand? Is there any other champions that are defined as a demon. Champs like nocturne, fiddelsticks, ahri, brand, shaco, jax, and evelynn. They seem to be like big candidates and we really don't know much about them to be honest.

Nocturne is a living embodiment of nightmares so I'd imagine him to be more like an elemental, Fiddlesticks is probably a demon , Ahri is a Gumiho which is a japanese fox demon. Brand is a demon i'm pretty sure, Shaco has demon in his title, Jax It's theorized he's a darkin so if aatrox is a demon he is too and Evelynn is just a person with vamprism iirc.

I feel like we just had a bomb dropped here. I don't recall demons ever being confirmed as a legit thing in the League universe, maybe I'm mistaken on that though.

Now I feel like Shaco and Swain are demons in actuality and not just by comparison.
