Who the pale man might be...

Yin Yang are the opposites that allow each other to exist. Together they Are. There is no ultimate separation between what is living and what is not. Ultimately everything just Is.

What Is Life? Is Death Real?

So, who/what was and is before the Yin and Yang, before the split?

The lonely union, with no problems.

The pale man is 'God' - Everyhing that there was and is. Ultimately God is alone. God is not someone, or something. "God Is" or just Isness, or just Beingness fits too. Each person experiences itself as a separate entity because of the mind which separates things. You need it to function and do things, you need contrast. Would you seek good without bad? If you were pefectly fine where you are now, would you go around to do stuff?

(Supposedly, in enlightenment, which is "Non-dual awareness" you experience the state being where there is no "me" and the "out there", there is only Beingness.)

PS: I don't know why people say that the Lamb n' the Wolf are death. The wolf is death. The lamb is life. The real question is who is the pale man. This might help you understand my guess.

Whoa... Someone's getting all Heideggarian up in this.

I agree that the death interpretation is a bit simplistic and doesn't quite fit. At the same time, this is Riot's lore team. Everything is horribly inconsistant and backgrounds are often depressingly underdeveloped. Getting a bit better recently but... Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if it was just death, boring as that would be. Pale man as in the pale horseman. All people must meet it.

Personally I'm hoping for fate though. Fate would be a much more interesting answer and and much more unique concept. Lamb is the past, wolf is what is to come. Thus why wolf asks lamb to tell it a story. But again, its probably just death....

I think they did a pretty good job with Tahm's lore. Doubt they'll cop-out with the pale guy being Death.

But how would you put the verse "All things must come to him" if only he existed before he split himself?

Fortunally Riot has always depicted completely unforseeable characters when they wanted to keep them "secret". Just look at Bard, we'd made all the wieldest guesses and still ended up with something we could not anticipate. So any over semplification or any concrete guess is just too early for me.

I do not think though that he.. they are going to be an allmighty entity but rather something more subtle that permeates the lives of Runeterra.
