Adding a few lines to items would be a great way to spark interest

Lots of people don't know about League lore, I must say 99% of my friends don't (confirmed by a poll I definitly did).

The medium through which you, Riot, reach your players is INGAME, inside the Summoners Rift. Lot's of people ignore your blogposts walking through x champion design or lore.

A good way to reach out would be to add a few lines, like I think there was in the old times, to items. People may find it peculiar and interesting enought to go search deeper.

Dead Man's Plate is a good example of this: "There's only one way you'll get this armor from me..." That's so interesting because, who kills another person for their armor? Never in any movie I've ever seen have I watched someone kill someone else because of their special armor.

So that line raises questions, what is so special about that armor? Is it magical? What abilities does it give? (movement speed lol)

What is the Randuin's Omen?

I doubt a small line would compromise and restrict future lore that much, so don't fear adding a few lines, even if in the future they may cease to be cannon anymore.

item 1083 Linguists have long pondered how an item can have a name that is a verb, but Cull pays no mind to them. It Cull. It are. item 3902 Death was surprised to learn it had a daughter and doubly that she was a cannon. item 3814 The sharpest part of the edgiest time. item 3020 In some cultures this item is used as a stylish hat. item 3285 "Ach Lux, run It's the Luden's" - Echo item 3512 Determined to get as far from Aatrox as possible, the portal legally changed it's name in 2016. item 3211 Popular fashion statement in Shadow City, crafted from the hide of a spectral cow.

Would be cool. Some items already have lore attached to them, just not ingame.

item 3072 - Unearthed near the marshes of Kaladoun, the Bloodthirster is thought to have belonged to a powerful soulstealer named Frax Van Itt. The wielder of this dangerous weapon is forever bound to the blade and its thirst for the blood of others.

item 3031 - Only the boldest of men and women dare take the risky trip to the hottest spot in Valoran, in the very center of the Shurima Desert. Those who successfully make the journey may bathe their swords in a magical pool of the purest water known to this world. Any edge dipped into this pool will stay sharper and strike truer than any other sword.

item 3083 - The living armor protected the greatest troll warrior in the entire realm during the bloodiest and most devastating battles of the Rune Wars. Deep within the dark woods of Crystone the living armor waits to protect its next owner. A word of warning required before seeking out Warmog... it will protect you for a time, but when it grows tired of you, who will protect you from it?

I particularly like how IE isn't a specific sword, but rather any blade dipped into the Oasis of the Dawn becomes an Infinity Edge. Has some neat implications; perhaps Renekton's crescent-axe and Nasus' halberd are Infinity Edges?

Item lore's always great and I'd love to see more of it in places, even if it's just in updated icons that actually help ground those items in the narrative by way of design and aesthetics.

Y'know, while flavour text would be awesome and I'd love to see more of it, I'd also like to see a section of Universe dedicated to items and putting some backstory behind them, from telling the potentially epic tales of folks like Randuin, Rabadon, Lord Dominick and others being simpler explanations like what a Kindlegem is or what kind of people generally use Brawler's Gloves.

item 3151 A device used by Noxian torturers, the mask seals itself to the victims face and slowly drills into their eyes, causing tears of blood to ooze from the mask. item 3751 The ultimate in hot potato technology. item 3211 Fashionable and practical; the spirits know how to design a hood. item 3075 Rather uncomfortable, but also rather effective.

I think Deadmans plate (coming from a pirate) translates into: I rather die than surrender and give you my loot Would be really nice to read some small snippets for items.

item 1026 "Not to be confused with the Casting Wand, Bursting Wand and Conjuring Wand"

item 3901 "Merely a formality, they actually do that all the time"

item 3152 "Designed by Professor Ziggs of the Hexplosives Department. Use with caution"

item 3802 "Has a history of going missing"

item 1058 "Wizards claim the ever increasing size has a practical reason, but evidence is lacking"

item 3198 "Logical Fallacy: To be perfect it would need to contain DRAAAAVEN"

item 2049 "Once you realize that some stones have sight, you will never feel alone or sane again"

Such as Ionian boots of lucidity?

Huh, this reminds me of the flavor text that Warcraft III mapmakers would often add to items. I liked that a lot. Unfortunately, we were often restricted by character limits!

a short sentence wouldnt be too bad but id rather not loose half my team because everyone is reading the 59 page story about how item 3301 smells of a faraway place...

Actually an idea I had of my own, was classing some items to specific region's for example like how we know item 3097 is from Mt. Targon and item 3143 is from Demacia.. I think. If people were to read in-game, blah blah a scared item from Demacia's fabled armory, on an item that is common amoungst their pool of champions they may become interested in the region, and by extension the champs from said region, and by chance hooked on the lore itself... what do think of this idea?
