@Riot, why do Riven and Yasuo get a special event?

If you're not sure what I mean I'm referring to Dawnbringer vs Nightbringer order vs chaos event, and I ask because a few reasons. The primary reason being 1 I thought the event was nice and gave them both much needed legendary skins, and 2 because there are so many rivals in the league that still don't even have interactions (and I'm looking at Leona and Diana, and Kayle and Morgana in particular). So I'm curious as to whether Riot will continue with more Nightbringer vs Dawnbringer skins that give life to these rivalries that exist, or if they're just gonna ignore them. and both say stuff to each other and it feels kinda like and and and are just background and don't fit anywhere. So Rito pls if you're gonna go hard with the battlecast stuff, (nice job on that illaoi skin btw) then why not give some nice ultimate skins for those champions. Even Vayne vs Eve or Jayce vs Jinx or Shen vs Zed (although I think Leona and Diana not only fit the criteria for the theme but also need ultimate skins...) Would all be nice to see.

There is potential to see more Nightbringer and Dawnbringer skins in the future, but not in the sense which you are referring to them. The event was officially called the 'Versus Event' iirc, meaning future events involving rival champs receiving 1820 skins, do not also have to be Dawnbringer and Nightbringer skins.

I would love to see more Versus Events though, it is a nice way for Riot to make champion rivalries known to the larger community, and boost those champions' popularity.

They are 2 very popular champions with rather dedicated playerbases so giving these 2 legendary skins was a nobrainer,which is most likely why they were chosen to get dual-legendaries.

Kayle for example has already a legendary in the shop and nowadays they avoid giving champs a second legendary skin if they already have one thats still avaliable(currently the only champ with 2 legendaries that are both not legacy/limited is cho'gath and his legendaries are rather old).

Also I'm pretty sure that if they make another dual-legendary-release they'll use different themes that time around.

Its not like its canon in the main lore, Riot could make a Dawnbringer Tristana Skin vs a Nightbringer Fiora event if they wanted to, even if they are not rivals.

Because Riot believes in creating content that has the most player value. Out of all the potential VS. events, Riven and Yasuo had the most player value because of how popular they are in the community. It's sad for those of us who are fans of the more obscure champs (I'd love a Quinn vs. Talon event), but it's part of their mission statement as a company and what gives them the most profit to keep League afloat.

edit: on a side note i'd rather not have dawnbringer leona vs nightbringer Diana. Didn't like the dawnbringer theme that much and i'd much rather have a bruiser/berserker/warrior style skin for leona instead of what will probably be some defender style skin.

Yes! Explore every rivalry, including duo rivalries like Caitlyn and Vi vs Jinx and Ziggs, or triangle rivalries like Ashe/Sejuani/Lissandra. If company ambitions and player expectations were well-managed, then another rivalry could run quarterly. Here's a schedule

Month 1 Week One: Brainstorm alternative universes, to keep the rivalry's outcome from affecting the main universe, and choose a top few. Week Two: Develop the top alternative universes, adding initial character sketches and plotlines. Week Three: Choose one alternate universe, draw its new skins, and write its starting and two ending plotlines. Week Four: Review the alternate universe, plotlines, and skins for quality and consistency.

Month 2 Week One: Brainstorm the missions for each faction and choose a top few mission trees like you did for alternate universes. Week Two: Playtest all the missions from all the trees in soloqueue and pick the best tree and missions. Week Three: Put every great mission possible from other trees into the chosen tree and create its icons, rewards, and lore. Week Four: Review the new content and playtest the missions.

Month 3 Week One: Combine the lore content from Month 1 with the gameplay content from Month 2 into a playable product Week Two: Hire gamebreakers and a focus group to expose bugs, pain points, and disappointments; and correct the game accordingly. Week Three: Add minor features, quality of life improvements, and lore details to the product to polish the product. Week Four: A second round of gamebreaking and focus grouping, with only tiny and safe corrections allowed. Then release!

It's all about money.

Both champs received Legendary-level skins with that event and Riot wanted to promote the hell out of them. What better way to advertise those skins (and allow Riot to make money on them) than a two-week special event through the client?

Yes, there are other rivalries that probably deserve something special. However, they probably won't unless there's some money to be made. This is especially important given the recent changes to Orange Essence drops.

Also before anyone gets the wrong idea, I'm not against the yasuo vs Riven, I'm just wondering why them in particular. When their rivalry is kind of implied more than outright said. I'd be totally fine seeing Garen vs Darius or whatever but preferably someone who doesn't have a awesome skin (Dunk master Darius kind of the best Darius skin)

FWIW, Kayle and Morgana used to be a much bigger thing, and Leona and Diana are in a kind of uncertain spot right now (the individuals obviously have something against each other, but the aspects are kind of in limbo).
