Could Amumu possibly be ascended?

What i read off of the Shurima story, those who aren't fit to be ascended usually die or become corrupted, like Xerath. Could Amumu possibly be a young Shuriman child that attempted to become ascended for some unfit reason, and was reborn to be cursed for the rest of his life? Now it was not said whether he was a Yordle or a young child, but I am pretty sure he was a young child because Yordles at the time did not reside in Shurima by any knowledge. Also, Amumu seems to carry a lot of the ascended characteristics, like extended life expectancy, immense magical powers, a unique look, and he also "awakened" from a deep slumber just like Azir. What do you guys think?

I think Amumu was a yordle who took on the appearance of a child. In the murals he is shown as a child, but that's how he would be perceived by humans who saw him so of course they will depict him as such in their drawings.

In Trist's story she appears as an old lady to the humans who come across her, so it's not a stretch to consider that Mumu appeared as a child.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Mumu's splash art get updated with the yordle finger thing too?

Also I think Yordles are spread out all over Runeterra. They reside/come from Bandle City which is kind of a "between worlds" dimension or something like that.

I think his curse was some sort of Yordle magic. Like a depression but was intensified 1000x due to him being a Yordle.

but -shrug- who knows until we get more Shurima news or a Bandle City event/update.

Those who are unfit for Ascension don't just die: their bodies are obliterated entirely. Even Xerath, who survived the process, has no physical form anymore. He's a just an energy storm contained within the sarcophagus. And Xerath was not corrupted by the ritual. He was corrupted by years of opression as a slave, and then corrupted further by centuries of isolation underground. There is nothing magical about this. Amumu is seemingly undead and cursed with pestilence. These symptoms don't match the Ascension ritual at all.

Let's be honest here: we know nothing about Yordle history. We know they are timeless, magical, can pass as humans using illusion, and tend to have overly exaggerated personality traits. Amumu sounds like a Yordle to me.

Imo, if it were plausible it would ave been mentioned in his lore, surely that would be a significant story of the sad Mummy to be retold to future generations. As Amumu's lore is basically the stories people tell about him. In fact in Rammus' lore, it is mentioned that some speculate that he might have been an ancient Ascended which imo would give the theory "Rammus is an Ascended" more validity opposed to "Amumu is an Ascended", just throwing in my reasoning. Though it is still possible he may still be connected to the Sun Disc in some way, as we don't know the full extent of the Disc's power nor the conditions/origins of his curse.

It might be non cannon now. But I think yordles are personifications of emotions. Amummu is depression, loneness and sadness.

Amumu only lives that long,because he is undead. He doesn't age anymore.

And Azir didn't fall into a slumber,he was resurrected(and he only became an ascended after his rebirth)
