Most players have never seen most champions' crit animation

Champions all have crit animations, and a lot of those animations looks very damn cool! But non-adc champions do not ever build any crit items because the balance team had push crit to a stat only adcs build with the not so recent triforce change. I think it would be cool to utilise these very damn awsome crit animations on some incidents without the champion actually criting.

For example, when Ziggs have his passive empowered aa ready he can throw it with crit animation instead of just throwing a red bomb. Lux can do a crit animation when she attacks an illuminated target. Xerath can use his crit animation when his "aa restore mana" passive is up.

It might not be necessary, but I think having majority of the champions' mains never ever see a crit animation of their champion just seems like a waste of resource, because many of these animations are actually very damn good.

Maybe add a crit animation to all item 3057 buffed attacks as well?

IcyPepper6/20/2016, 3:48:16 AM33 votes

Velkoz Agreed.

Nothing beats Sion Crit Animation. Good hard kick to the face.

Quinn actually doesn't have a unique crit animation anymore; with her rework, they replaced all her standard auto attack animations with the crit one, so now ALL her AAs look exactly the same regardless of whether she crits or not (which is quite unfortunate and boring IMO, because I found her AA animations really appealing, even if not so smooth in combat).

Main reason against it, I'd think, is if the meta ever shifts to the point they become AD champions and actually buy crit (unlikely, I know), you won't be able to tell their crits apart from their empowered autos. Or, to a lesser degree, if someone runs 1% crit chance runes and gets lucky, you would want some way to tell the difference. So they probably would never do it.

Impossible. Crit attacks are coded as minions. If we spawn crit attack minions without a crit attack they'll get confused and start questioning their existence.

One suggestion I saw once that I liked was making characters use the crit animation whenever they get the last hit on a ward. It would be rare enough to be special, and there would be no confusion because crits don't matter on wards (actually idk if crits can even proc on wards to get the animation at all...hmm).

I thinks this would actually really help with clarity when the enemy is doing these things as well. Seeing Xerath do an animation when he gets mana back that's more clear than just a blue effect around him might help you punish him more readily for coming up. And it would just be cool.

I think any on-hit spell (Trundle Q is an example of champs with AA cancels/on-hit spells with unique animations) should use the crit animation unless there's another one, and Spellblade items too. It would also make it way more clear when someone Lichbane kills you or something where that damage came from, because you'd see this mage do an AA animation that was different from what you're used to seeing. You might appropriately shield/heal/whatever it more easily than just looking for the glow, especially because it can appear and be used almost instantly.

I remember someone suggesting, three years ago or so, that item 3100 Lich Bane's proc should make the champion use their Crit animation, and even a Rioter or two agreed that it's actually a pretty good idea.

I sometimes just really want to see Vel'Koz smiting down opponents by combining the power of all three tentacles and so creating the perfect (small) laser.

Singed : I have a crit animation?

Velzard of Koz6/20/2016, 3:12:05 PM2 votes

I build item 3094 on Lux in ARAM (on-hit build with item 3100 ) and still didn't really percept she has different animation. And it did crit at least once because enemy Nasus was once like "Lux that cirts O_o Wut?" in all chat.

Velasan6/20/2016, 6:58:03 PM2 votes

Or.... just give all champions a 1% chance to crit built in.

Problem solved? Would add a lot more randomness though. Not sure if people really want that.

Be all like, "Oh I am going to escape this Xerath! Omg... he just critted me with an auto attack and I died."

Garen actually friggen stabs someone when he crits, it looks beast. But unless you run crit Garen, you'll never see it.

I whole heartedly support this.

Sassmast3r6/20/2016, 3:09:50 PM2 votes

I definitely agree with this, and, like Savage Dev1 said, in order for AP champs to actually have their crit animations shown, Riot needs to implement their crit animations whenever they utilize the AA buff from Spellblade. _ However_, the issue is the fact that not all champions actually have crit animations, so it would be a bad move on Riot's end; It would become glaringly obvious that they totally forgot to give some champs crit animations.

For example, Karma - I'm not even kidding you when I say that OLD KARMA had a crit animation... and new one doesn't!! It's ludicrous!

Fizz has a really cool crit animation

But then you have a clarity problem when someone decides to go AD Ziggs or something jank like that.

Garen 's crit animation always make me happy. Full crit Garen pokes the shit out of things

Anyone have any crit animations that they recommend others to see, that's not ADC?
