Urf, the Manatee Prince, is no longer possibly dead. His lore revolved around him being inspired by Jax to join the League of Legends, but then getting killed by Warwick in his first League match. Now that there is no League, Urf could still be alive and present unless Riot finds another way to kill him, which would be cruel.

That is... actually a rather good point. Alright, one could alter it slightly, make it so Urf wanted to become a warrior like Jax (rather than a champion) but that'd be a dickish move to outright kill off Urf yet again.
So now the true reason comes out, the next champion is urf and riot couldnt figure out how to bring urf back to life, so they realized if they just removed the whole lore in general then urf wouldnt be dead!
Urf confirmed next champion, and this is why they couldnt come out with the ultimate skin in 2014, because the ultimate skin is urfs
And skins are not canon, therefore Warwick may not have eaten Urf. We now see Riot's true motives for deleting the League of Legends.
It is all an elaborate plot to bring back Urf, clearly as a new champion.

Sadly, Urf passed away in a freak spaghetti accident during the Spring of 2010. He will be missed. Probably.

I would actually be down to play as a big Manatee. The only issue I see with this is that he's already directly shown in several skins. Urf Rider Corki, Urfwick, Fisherman Fizz, etc. I mean, playing against Urf as a champion while also facing Urf Rider Corki bot, Urfwick jungle, and Fisherman Fizz mid would get pretty confusing.
