Updated Poppy's intro and lore ramifications

For those who haven't read the new page:

Unfathomable feats of strength. Victory over impossible odds.

The hallmarks of a great hero are almost always obvious, especially to the person displaying them.** Almost always. Poppy’s been tasked with delivering a legendary hammer to a hero who will become legend. Journeying through Runeterra, she uncovers a number of would-be wielders, but never suspects the hammer might have found the right person already.** The power of the hammer, the responsibility of her mission. And a whole swath of new abilities to show off her true strength. Poppy’s kit’s designed to show off her might despite her diminutive stature; whether peeling for your allies by chaining CC like Hammer Shock and Heroic Charge, or plunging into the heart of battle to separate a carry from the crowd, Poppy shows that sometimes all you need in your toolbox is a really big hammer

Emphasis is mine.

So, Poppy is actually Mjolnir, not Thor.

#"Whosoever holds this hammer, if they be worthy, shall possess the power of Yordles."

So, this new teaser makes me curious about a few things:

  1. Does this mean that Poppy is no longer associated with Demacia? After all, "Keeper of the Hammer" is not "The Iron Ambassador." What of her friendship with Galio?
  2. Is Poppy still the daughter of a blacksmith or a living stone holding the veritable Excalibur for the future King Arthur?
  3. Should we expect a "Hammer Bros." skin set with Taric and Jayce?

I don't expect anyone from Riot to answer these questions, but the questions are there.

The implication is that Poppy herself is the "Legendary Hero," she just hasn't realized it yet.

"... she uncovers a number of would-be wielders, but never suspects the hammer might have found the right person already."

She must be really stupid if she doesnt suspects that SHE is the hero... i mean, SHE IS ALREADY USING THE HAMMER FOR GODS SAKE!

Iron Ambassador is the name of her Passive now so that might stay while Riot wanted to emphasize the Hammer thing.

If they delete that part of the Lore they will have to delete also the entirety of Galio's Lore... which I find a good thing, I've never liked that Galio felt like a failure no matter what.

The likelihood is that Poppy heard about Demacia as the home of the righteous and the brave, and headed out there to find a wielder of the hammer that was worthy. As far as places to go to find a hero, Demacia seems like the place you'd go no? If we go by the notion that very little changed from old to new here, then her working as an ambassador actually helps her out; an ambassador for Runeterra's many nations to the nation of heroic ideals would have great access to information and individuals who might know a worthy hero or two.

In line with the above, I feel like her role as "Keeper of the Hammer" would actually strengthen her old lore and how it worked. Think about it for a second; in the old lore the Yordle Lands (horribly named) were way down south beyond the Great Barrier. In the new lore, assuming similar locations, that means Poppy would've trecked across the Kumungu, Shurima, around Mount Targon and then some to get to Demacia. If that doesn't scream awesome I don't know what does. And in line with that, that actually still ties strongly with Galio; she's still as inspiring a Yordle, if not more so, than could rouse Galio from his depression and drive him towards serving Demacia once again.

Do keep in mind her passive is named "Iron Ambassador". She's still in some way referred to as an ambassador!

Is Poppy still the daughter of a blacksmith or a living stone holding the veritable Excalibur for the future King Arthur?

I'd imagine her lore's being changed from being a smith to being a guardian of that hammer. Makes more sense. Then assassins come to try and steal it and Poppy's forced to just hold on to the hammer, and go out to find its wielder.

Should we expect a "Hammer Bros." skin set with Taric and Jayce?

I would be shocked if that didn't happen.

Judging by her quotes at 4:48 she still has a strong tie to Demacia.
