Am I the only one who doesn't like the new Fiddlesticks splash?
A couple of things bother me about this new splash.
-
His neck is stuck out a bit too far and looks uncomfortable more than scary.
-
His neck is just as thick as his head. It makes it a bit hard to take him seriously. I think his neck should be a tad thinner and his head a tad thicker so you can more clearly see the distinction.
-
His key has been replaced by a noose. The key was always really mysterious to me, as it was unclear what it unlocked. A noose is really generic and boring, even though it does fit the thematic. His in-game model does not have either of these, so it does not make any sense that a noose would be added or that the key would be replaced by anything.
-
Fiddlesticks's in-game model has much lighter colors for his body. The new splash does not have much contrast at all, rather everything is dark. I get that his fantasy is dark, but in order to accentuate darkness, you need light to compare it to.
-
His knees do not have enough overlap between the sticks. This is pretty different from his in-game model, and does not really match the fantasy of an animated scarecrow.
Overall, I think the art is objectively higher quality, but these things make it feel a little wrong to me.
As a side note, I love the new Kennen splash art, but the hand seems a bit too stiff and the top of the mask is too low imo. There doesn't seem to be any curve where his forehead is, so it looks a bit weird to me. If his forehead could be a bit more pronounced and his hand had a bit of curve at the wrist, I would say that the new splash was perfect.
My issues with these might simply be because they are so different, but I just want to know if anyone else feels that way. I absolutely love the new Warwick and Blade Mistress Morgana splash arts, and I can't take any issue with them.
