Darius: Blood of Noxus - Comics - Universe of League of Legends

Timeline of the Comic

  • 22 Years Ago: Basilich submits to Noxus. Darius, Draven, and Quill are seemingly teenagers.
  • 19 Years Ago: Darius and Quill make out at Blackrock Mere before they march off to "opposite sides of the empire".
  • 10 Years Ago: The last time Darius came to Basilich.
  • 9 Years Ago: Darius and Quill observe the handiwork of a Zaunite alchemist (gee, I wonder who that could be). Darius reports to Captain Cyrus that the road to Navori is clear, which is a region in Ionia, meaning the invasion of Ionia took place 9 years ago. Later during the retreat, Quill's arm is amputated to prevent the alchemist's poison from killing her.
  • 5 Years Ago: The last time Darius saw Quill in person.
  • 5 Years Ago—Present: Darius' call to arms drafts Quill's son into army, who is killed in the Freljord.
  • Present Day: Basilich rebels under Quill, forcing Darius and Draven to retake the city. Quill is killed by Invetia, and the city is reclaimed.

Darius and Draven hail from Basilich, a city first shown in the Medarda Heirloom that came out with the Piltover/Zaun event. If you look closely at the map, Basilich is under the stewardship of Quilletta Varn Invetia Varn; they were actually teased before the comic. Quill and Invetia share the same surname, and because Darius says, "I thought your son occupied the role," it's possible that Invetia is Quill's daughter. When Invetia kills Quill, she reminds Darius that she learned the three principles of strength from him, which lends more credence to the idea that she is Quill and Darius' daughter. While talking with Quill, Darius and Draven spot ships from the city of Vindor to the south, sent by Steward Amenesce. Vindor and Amenesce were also shown on the map prior to the comic, and sure enough, they're southeast of Basilich. https://68.media.tumblr.com/ae3a682439ce06ccc2bdb99ede129561/tumblr_ouwf4jEqaG1salezdo1_1280.png Tamara, the warmason accompanying Darius and Draven to Basilich, first appeared as the POV character of the Progress Day short story (which also came out during the Piltover event), which Draven eludes to with the line "All that time in Piltover has made you soft." I cannot find any other mention of Emystan, who employed the Zaunite alchemist.

I cannot find any other mention of Emystan, who employed the Zaunite alchemist.

While I do have no sources for my theory, I wouldn't be surprised if Emystan was behind the children soldier thing from Kayn's lore. The time would fit, also Quill describes her as "Emystan. Typical. She always was a bloodthirsty bitch."

Just my 2 cent about it.

Quill could have been our first handicapped champ. A shame. Darius had nice taste.

Edit: for those of you replying to this, Lee sin has marvel Daredevil senses, Swain still has his lame leg and demon form. Quill would have had nothing special like them. No hextech augment, no magic power, she'd simply be a badass woman getting by on her cunning and hidden ferocity while missing an arm.

I long for a simple champ a bit, blame all the edgelords we been getting the last few rounds.

Quilletta must have had an infected wound and then it got helluva lot worse when she entered the chem-bombed town. Her Arm is already covered in bandages.

Was the Son who was lost also Darius's?

this might be an incorrect interpretation, but lemme hear what y'all think about this:

there were two assaults on basilich. the first one was where draven was injured in an explosion and noxus retreated. darius then waited for draven to recover and revisited blackrock mere to try and discover what was going on in quilletta's head. while there he's attacked by an assassin sent by her, but draven has got his back. the blood brothers then attempt a diplomatic solution with quiletta, who is then killed.

sound right?

One thing I found interesting was how good a relationship Darius has with Draven. It's a nice contrast to Garen, who would be considered the better moral figure, and certainly far less brutal and compromising when compared to Darius, but he also has an awful relationship with Lux.

It's almost like Demacia and Noxus highlight the lesser-seen sides of Jedi and Sith.

Jedi (Demacians) are noble, just defenders...who are distrustful of anything outside of their own code and who want personal ties to take a backseat to duty and honor.

Sith (Noxians) are brutal, conquering warlords...who are actually allowed to have feelings so long as those feelings aren't a weakness or a liability.

Is it possible that champion who killed Quill's son is Tryndamere? judging by his story he seems likely to be the one.

I like quiletta though... wish we could see her as a champ n the future. maybe what if darius sent quiletta to zaun to make her alive again(like old urgots lore)

it's possible that Invetia is Quill's daughter. When Invetia kills Quill, she reminds Darius that she learned the three principles of strength from him, which lends more credence to the idea that she is Quill and Darius' daughter.

In french version Quill present Invetia as her daughter, and invetia, after killing her mother, say she inherit theses principles from darius.

Awesome recap, thanks for putting all this together! I always read the pieces of lore when they are released, but struggle to remember all the detail and recall the connections :D

Am I the only one who can totally picture Quill and Riven going out to get drunk and bitch about Noxus (Singed mostly)

Darius surname isnt Varn since I dont think they ever married. They did have kids most likely, but they were done outside of marriage and would likely take the surname of their mother instead. And since Darius was hardly at home and no way to get any messages to him, he probably never got the info that he had kids.

Hey that's clever having Inventia and Quiletta listed on the map. Well played Riot.
