Hypothetical: What if instead of journeying to the Freljord Sylas went...

... to Ionia and came across the order of shadows.

He's an outcast of his own homeland and feels that the rules of his people are ruining the lives of people. Mainly he feels that the nobility in Demacia is the sole cause of the oppression of mages and that the only way to liberate the mages of Demacia is to do away the the Demacian nobility (if I'm reading into this correctly).

SPOILERS FOR THE SHACKLES OF BELIEF

So he winds up traveling into the Freljord to seek out a massive power that he (senses?) and ends up teaming up with the winters claw after the shaman lady lies to Vrynna and says that she's seen Sylas in a vision or something and so he's important. Sylas ends up coming up with the idea of raiding Demaica with the assistance of the Winter's claw.

So now let's say that instead of sensing immense magical power from the Freljord he sensed it in Ionia instead. This then leads him to Zed's order.

so what happens in this scenario?

my theory is that in this hypothetical situation 1 of 2 things happens

1- Sylas' story ends up convincing Zed to train him in the shadow magics and he basically becomes a shadow assassin mage.

2-He tries to yeet Zed's powers with his chains and either Zed kills him, or Sylas worms his way out.

What do you all think? Theoretically of course

Well you know what the problem is... Ionia is really, really far away. Like, too much. There is Noxus in between man. How is he gonna get past them with his followers?

The question is.... Sylas can copy Shadow Techniques in the lore?

As far as i remember, and i could be wrong, the "Shadow Magic" of Zed is not "real" magic, but a weird thing that is similar to magic, Just like the "Void Magic" is not "real" magic (its "anti magic" or something like that).

If Sylas is only able to copy "real" magic, then he should not be able to use the skills of Zed (or a Voidborn, but that is a different topic).

Zed would likely not be interested in fighting for Sylas, since both are more interested in reshaping their own nations and Demacia has nothing of interest for Zed. At best he might accept Sylas as a disciple for a while, but even that seems unlikely as Sylas would likely be not very trustworthy.

I also doubt that Sylas would just attack Zed and try to take his magic by force, because even though Petricite can store magic, it'd give Sylas only a few shadow spells for a one-time use, making an enemy out of the entire order isn't worth that.

The shadow box on the other hand might be more interesting for Sylas, so he might try to steal that(if he ever finds out about its existence), but that'd be very difficult for Sylas and his followers.
