I love how the new champ is presented

*He gives people absolution from their problems. We definitely know that he physically removes them from their problems, but does he also exert some magical power to make it seem as though the problem never existed? He's been all over the world, he knows the best places to take people in order to fix their problems.

*He feeds on the hopes/dreams of people. He can't get into the "dining hall" of the heart because he hasn't given those people hope/a dream yet. The people let him into the dining hall of their heart by letting Tamm help them out.

*HE'S A CATFISH. Deception at it's finest. "The price is minuscule". Yes, it's a small thing to let him into the dining halls of your heart, you just have to open the doors to let him in. Then he crushes your hopes and dreams later on. Isn't the best part of life being able to live out your dreams? A seemingly small price takes the greatest toll possible.

*Waiting years to cash in on his deal? He let's his food "ferment", waiting so long to the point where his victim's suspicions are long past, life is great, nothing can go wrong, then BAM. Oh so savory

Theory incoming, imagine if the Handsome Gambler was Twisted Fate? His luck ran out early in life, came across Tamm, was delivered to a kingdom, had his wife-to-be killed by Tamm, then goes to Bilgewater to track down Tamm while doing his gambling shenanigans, gets tied up in Zaun to learn magic so he can bring back his wife-to-be, gets caught up with Malcolm Graves, turns Graves in to the authorities, gets his experiment, and now has his magical powers (albeit, not resurrection powers).

The TF thing is why i hate this champion it goes 100% against his theme as a person/champion after all he is the man who always has lady luck on his side and gets good fortune no matter what the situation, mean while the gambler in the trailer looks like a stupid idiot who just signs a deal without even knowing the price! TF would NEVER EVER DO THAT!

The woman also bothers me because if the gambler is TF then the woman has to be Eve, also its odd that the woman seems to know this "demon"

What if TF's luck before the experiment was due to his own skill? Then after the experiment, his luck became supernatural (tied to his magic)?

If we affirm the above, then we can say that TF getting sucked into Tamm's deception was due to his lack of experience, and after Tamm came back for TF's wife-to-be, TF truly learned what it meant to not trust any situation at face value.

My problem with that is all the best con men are naturals at it to the point where that level of skill just cannot be taught, and if its before magic then why would TF not have asked for said magic? his lust for magical power is central to his personality and is one of the few reasons he would sell out a "friend" such as graves.

also TF was born a gypsy so he would be hard to cheat, as the saying goes its hard to cheat a cheater.

So to play on the idea that TF was always a good con-man, you have to consider that the whole encounter with Tamm was unpredictable, not even giving the Gambler a chance to react to the situation after saying "I agree to your proposal". I don't think any of Tamm's victims could have foreseen that Tamm would swallow them up and drop them off somewhere as Tamm's part of the deal. In fact, all of them were probably expecting Tamm to say "this is what I want", which is probably what TF would expect to, and then work his bluffing skills from then on. Nope, he swallows them up, drops them off somewhere, then disappears, no chance to really react.

So the Gambler is dropped off at a palace, and after a few years, is set up to marry the princess of the royalty there? He definitely used a lot of conning there to have such good fortune. And then Tamm comes along, unexpectedly. The Gambler is at his mercy now.

Main point is, even for the best con-man out there, what Tamm does is so unknown and unpredictable, that the con-man doesn't even get a hand of cards to work with in the situation.

Ok so here is how i hear the tease trailer.

He finds tamm after following a song and runs into a talking monster > monster offers to solve his problems > young man asks if he can really solve his problems > tamm explains his price and heavily implies food at fancy restaurants as payment > young gambler agrees to this and tamm takes him to his salvation.

I see plenty of time for the gambler to make his decision after all tamm had to wait for the gambler to agree which implies his victim needs to be willing to agree to the terms or he can do nothing, so he had time to clarify the terms or negotiate.

This is why I will be dissapointed if the "gambler" is TF just because TF would never agree to such vague terms, after all you can't con someone out of payment if you don't understand the terms of said payment.

Can we please not needlessly tie in champions where they don't belong? Are we forgetting champions are characters themselves, and not mere archetypes that can be shoehorned into any given situation?

He's a gambler. Big huff. Tons of gamblers exist. What makes TF special isn't his gambling, it's his character. What you're describing, the "turned in Graves to be able to get the experiment to try to resurrect his wife" is completely outside of him. He isn't a noble soul, he's a cheater who never truly gambles because he never enters a game he knows he can't win: "Never lost a fair game. Never played one".

I Still Go By What I Said In My Post Abbout What Do You Think That The Laugh In The River Is ( Now We Know Who It Was). It The Post Me And Some Other People Came To The Conclusion That It Could Be Kindda Like Last Year With Azir And Shurima, Where A New Champ Comes Out, And All The Champs From The Same Area Get Lore Updates, And Some Get Full Blown Reworks ( Cassie And Renek Last Year, GP And Miss This Year.) I Agree With Everything That You Wrote, And Even Tho The Current TF Lore Would Not Allow This Theory, If They All Get Updates, Then I Guess That It Could Work.

I agree with everything that you wrote, and even though the current TF lore would not allow this theory, if they all get updates, then I guess that It could work.

FTFY, no offense but the grammar and everything having a capital letter to start it off drove me nuts trying to read it...

I think the presentation was astounding and think it needs to be done like this more often. It gave more feeling to the lore and while a great deal of people dislike the lore that might be changed by Tamm (Rumored name of the River King.). I think it is going to add a fresh feeling to the Lore and I completely agree with this.

Yeah because the Champion Design Team and the Champion Relaunch Team are comprised of the same people working on the same project, using the exact same resources over at the Riot offices. end sarcasm

Relaunch and New Release Teams are completely separate, they have their own designers and departments for making content, and don't steal resources from one another. Just because Tamm is coming out doesn't mean he slowed down Taric's relaunch. Use your head man

I really liked it, but the voice acting wasn't great (the accent was nice, but there were some lines that were weirdly accentuated)

Good presentation.

Now come some retcons of TF and Graves. The new character will probably be retconned in two years when a new champion that is related to him releases. Fizz/Nami will probably get some short unfinished bios that'll be finished when there's a story that needs a playful fish and an adventurous mermaid.

I'm just not excited. The world of Runeterra feels hollow, it's a bunch of generic tropes, but now without the IoW to make it interesting. The characters in Valoran, the champions of League of Legends, are treated like tools; getting changed and retconned whenever Riot feels like it. The only things that seems to matter to Riot are to tell a story and hype up the new champion. If I'm not supposed to care about champions nor the world, why should I care about the stories? Because they looks fancy?
