@RiotKateyKhaos @skin team; Are licensed skins completely impossible even in a far future?

Long story short, many of us LOVE a lot of franchises, but League takes time. So we'd be glad if we could a) Show our cultural belonging ingame and b) Support financially those other franchises as well without taking away time from League. Just think of the possibilities, every hype train a skin. When Pokemon Sun and Moon comes out, there are hundreds of old and new character designs from the Pokemon series that you could select a couple from. Maybe 3, Venusahm Kench, Cho'Rizard and Blastokai. New Assassin's Creed? Talon skin. New Metroid? Quinn/Vayne skin.

Again, I'm not saying "GIBE NAO", I'm just asking if it's ever a possibility, even a few years down the line.

Licensing costs a TON of money, and it also takes a helluva lot of back and forth with the licensing agency to make sure that the creation is going to respect the license and not violate any copyright. Licensed skins, as a result, would cost a lot of money. Frankly, there is no reason to license in League. First off, licensed products tend to leave weird tastes in the mouth of people, no matter how well they're done, and give a lot of people a "sell-out" impression. Secondly, League is like Blizzard in that their games can exist without external licensing because they have established the style and art direction that allows them to make content that can make every kind of homage and parody in the world that they want, while still keeping the content strictly unique to them - see the Star Guardian and Super Galaxy lines. While I understand that you do love these other intellectual properties, they just won't work being placed in League. They can far too easily just make an homage and be done with it. And for the other guy who wants Gundam Kayle, they could simply make Super Galaxy Kayle.

Well, we have plenty of skins that are inspired by other media already. So there's a possibility of Riot taking something like Lickatung from Pokemon and make a skin for Tahm Kench. They already did plenty like these bunch:

Yellow Jacket Shen (Scorpion from Mortal Kombat)
Frozen Shen (Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat)
King Rammus (Bowser from Super Mario)
Warrior Princess Sivir (Xena)
Star Guardian Lux (Sailor Moon)
Project Yasuo (Raiden from Metal Gear Solid)
Prestigious LeBlanc (Zatanna from DC Comics)
Toxic Mundo (Hulk from Marvel)
Mecha Aatrox, Sion and Malphite (Transformers)

To name a few. Even Samsung White Talon looked very similar to Assassin's Creed.
