Mundo's Story

This is not an attempt to critique Riot's work; allow me to say that right off the bat. What caught my eye about this story was when Ekko reversed time and Mundo saw it. For those of you who don't know, in the world of the lore, nobody can see it when Ekko goes back; it just sems as though time is going on as it normally would. However, if Mundo is able to see this and knows that Ekko is repeating himself every time he rewinds, than that is definitely big. The only reason Ekko didn't put two and two together is that Mundo isn't smart enough to devirsify his attacks. Ekko thought it was just another rewind. Mundo exists outside of the Z-Drive's power, and most likely has something to do with the crystal Ekko found in order to make it. Perhaps it is even what made Mundo the way he is. Another theory I have is that he is infused with the power of another hexcrystal (possibly related to Ekko's), and that organic matter that is infused with magic from hexcrystals are immune to the powers of Ekko's. Please leave your thoughts in the comments bellow. Edit: Please read the comments; they've been unbelievably insightful.

Time isn't a boundary Mundo will consider on his epic journey to where he pleases.

One theory suggests he's Icathian, and makes some pretty good points. It would be pretty interesting if Mundo also tied into the magical stones, but since they seem to be Shuriman in origin, and Mundo is definitely around the same age if not older than Viktor and Jayce, that would imply that he's probably from Shurima.

What do you think?

I wonder if Kassadin is Zaunite. Dangerous magical experiments could be conducted there. He wears a breathing apparatus.

The Void could have turned Mundo purple like it turned Kassadin blue. Kassadin could've realized that Mundo was insane and left him at the asylum. (Mundo could even be Kassadin's son, but that's not necessary.)

If the theory I like (with Dr. Mundo being an abandoned child of an Icathian power) is true, Dr. Mundo might just ignore Ekko's time rewinds, experiencing life multiple times. Why? Well, the crystal that Ekko found was from Shurima and from a Bracken, an ancient, powerful race in Shurima (see Skarner). Considering that Icathians also likely used such gemstones, the power they have might allow them to ignore the effects of a wide variety of them.

I think the more interesting consequence of this is whether or not this happens every time Ekko starts rewinding time? Has Mundo ever had to spend several hours/days/weeks treating the same patient because Ekko was trying to do something at the same time Mundo was helping someone? Has mundo ever been trapped in an alley and started panicking because every time he get's close to the end of the alley he always flies back to the middle of it?

Do any other champions have to deal with this? Will Ekko have people hunting him down because they're sick of putting up with his shitty timing and having to repeat tasks constantly because of him?

Wow, I honestly didn't even think about that. Now that you mention it, that could also imply that he has some ties to the Void, and perhaps hexcrystals do as well. I'm not saying that he was infected by the Void; at least not fully. He has extreme regenerative abilities, as is common among the Voidborn. In addition, he also has an incredibly high pain threshold (if such a thing exists in Mundo's case) and an unbelieveable amount of strength. However, if we look at Jax, a conformed Icathian, we see that he, too, has great physical ability (also, they're both purple in skin color). A common plot devise comes to mind. That plot devise goes as follows: A civilization is experimenting with something they do not fully understand. This will usually lead to something commonly referred to as "the accident." This is usually an explosion or the outbreak of a disease. In the Icathians' case however, they most likely tore open a hole in the veil separating the Void from Runeterra, causing a massive spead of Void magic among its citizens, but not nearly to the extent of Malzahar or Kassadin, since it was spread over such a large area. This might also lead to the release of Cho'Gath (see my theory about the Void, "Void=Cancer?", to see why I think it's him and not the other Voidborn #yesthisisashamelessplug). This was quickly sealed up one way or another, but the damage was done. Cho'Gath made short work of the citizens, save for Jax and the ancestors, or maybe even parents, of Mundo. Seeing as Jax is still alive today, we can assume that the Void gives those infected, as well as the Voidborn, a lesser extent of immortality. Mundo's ancestors made there may as far as possible from Icathia. They eventually, possibly through generations, found there way to Zaun. By this time, thousands of years have passed; enough time for Icathia to fall into myth and legend. Finally, Mundo's conception comes about. The combination of Void energies and the chem fumes would be more than enough to grant him irreparable birth defects. For whatever reason, they left him at that asylum, either out of concern, necessity, or want for self-preservation. As for hexcrystals, the Void most likely managed to have some sort of reaction to the native magics, creating the different powers of the hexcrystals. O_O ... Okay, that comment of yours was a rabbit hole if I've ever seen one. Honestly, thank you so much for this trip. Overall I think there are 3 possibilities: 1.Mundo is really special and can remember the timewinds(I've read that a rioter hinted at this theory on reddit, but I don't know if that is true)

2.Ekkos Z-Drive merely has multiple functions and one of them works like the one ingame, where he rewinds time only for himself

3.The Z-Drive is noted to not work consistently,so it might have been a malfunction that caused Ekko to only rewind time for himself.
