I've read more about the development of lore than actual lore this year
What happened to all the big events like Shurima and Bilgewater? I feel like the new champion assembly line is slowing this down. [sg-lux-2]

There’s been full lore updates for something like 20 champions, a smaller amount got just updated short bios, and then we had 5(6?) lore comics, a music video, and several multi-champ short stories.
I think the problem is you not reading the lore
Champion assembly is slowing down in favor of VGU's, because at this point Riot thinks we have enough champions but not enough that are suited for modern League. Which I agree with.
There have been three (or four) big lore events this year, being Zaun, Demacia, and Vastaya (and maybe Varus if you count it). All of these happened relatively early in the year. However, hopes are high that the Swain VGU will give us some Noxus lore, and the Irelia VGU will give us Ionia lore. Pretty hyped for it.
Also, Riot said there wouldn't be any more big events like Burning Tides due to the amount of resources the have to allocate. They might do it again, but it won't be a regular thing.
There was a post about this in an "Ask Riot" from over a year ago - https://euw.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/community/q/ask-riot-how-weve-made-events-out-ranked-3s
TL;DR: We won’t be doing a single event that contains all of the components Bilgewater had last year. Instead we want to continue delivering on all the same types of content found within the Bilgewater event, but in a way that ensures better quality and cadence.
That's the basic summary of it, but I suggest reading the whole thing.
In my honest opinion, I prefer the recent way with numerous updates per year rather than one big update per year.
It has nothing to do with the New Champ assembly line. Which is an illogical observation because even back when they did big events, new champs were being made. Hell, the Freljord & Shurima (2014) event were likely produced solely because of a new champ coming out for those regions (
&
respectively)

Yeah I dont know if this title is simply poor choice of words or willfully misleading but that line alone is fabricated dribble. We have had only eight narrative focused blogs this entire year. https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BR_bmu-1wXI/WBSLbsZZwgI/AAAAAAAAXCU/Mp9-pQN6Hwo-lRv0gwrhS2Z7ZCFyXU9QwCLcB/s1600/19.png
