5 runes for 5 champions ( deffenders )

So as other threads have already pointed out at the end of ryze's cinematic we see 4 world runes in the demacian vault that much the colours of our in game runes ( runes reforged ) . So lets assume that only 5 world runes exist.( yes i know that the vault ahd more slots..however we dont know if the original purpose of the vault was to hold runes or if some of the runes were depleted and destroyed during the war..).

What if each rune is given by ryze to a champion in order to protect runeterra from a big upcoming void( or targonian ) invasion ? I mean runes can not sit there forever they must serve a purpose within the current narrative and being runeterras ultimate trump card is one such purpose !

so here are some theories about which champions will end up with a rune:

  1. one rune to each major nation...This scenario makes the msot sense to me since multiple void rifts may open at diffrent places at once. So about the champions that will wield the runes :
  • Domination (red) rune to noxus and its wielder will be Swain

  • Precision ( yellow) rune to ionia wielded by Irelia

  • sorcery (blue ) rune either wielded by ryze himself or given to Xerath (shurima)

  • inspiration rune to zaun and piltover wielded by Viktor and Jayce ( they will put their differences aside to eliminate the obstacle (void) to their common goal : the goood of humanity) Also viktor will have no emotions by then so the world rune wont affect him.

  • Resolve rune to freljord wielded by Braum , Sejuani or Ashe

Theory number 2 : All the runes will be wielded by demacians..Well this theory stems from the fact tat demacians may have developted am innate resistance to maigc due to their detachment from it.Also demacian tend to be noble and kind hearted and thus not easily corruptible! so based on that logic we have :

  • sorcery rune to Lux

  • precision to JarvanIV

  • inspiration to Sona

  • resolve to Lucian or Garen

  • and domination tp Quinn ?

And here my theory ( or rather thoughts) ends..i would love to hear everyones opinion on it and even other theories about the futere of the runes ! [katarina-love]

Xerath with a world rune? No thanks

About the number of runes, we know there are four in the vault, Brand has one, Zoe unearthed one (although we don't know when or which one), Ryze hid runes in other locations and is only moving them to the vault if their old hiding places were compromised, and there are other individuals in possession of runes (two mentioned in Ryze's color story). So while we can't disprove that there are only five runes, I think it's save to assume that there are way more.

It would make sense that the 5 living Darkin would each use one, and together they would kill the gods. Hence Zoe being a doomsayer sent by Targon himself to herald the twilight of the gods.

It is very likely that Ezreal already possess the Inspiration Rune.

I don't think we'll see the World Runes used any time soon in League Lore, at least not all at once.

What if each rune is given by ryze to a champion in order to protect runeterra from a big upcoming void( or targonian ) invasion ? I mean runes can not sit there forever they must serve a purpose within the current narrative and being runeterras ultimate trump card is one such purpose !

The problem here is that this would essentially be a conclusion to the story, or at least several arcs of it. Ending the Void threat effectively removes Kaisa Kassadin Malzahar KogMaw Chogath Khazix and Velkoz from the narrative, and has significant ramifications on the backstories of other champs. The way this is phrased also involves several champions putting aside their differences: Swain and Irelia working together, Viktor and Jayce teaming up, Xerath deciding not to just try and blow up everyone within reach. An idea like this requires so much plot progression and character work that would be a level of advancement in the League Lore that is totally unprecedented.

It's also a very superhero-y finale. I don't think there's anything wrong with that (I personally wrote a fanfic like three/four years ago with an ending that is pretty similar to this idea!), but the way the tone of the Lore is leaning now feels like it doesn't want to do that. As opposed to the old JoJ and original Lore, things are far less kitschy and black and white. League doesn't really want to be about heroes and villains anymore, it feels like, so much as it wants to be about a setting of complex locales and peoples. And they don't necessarily even interact anymore, because the Institute Of War isn't there to facilitate that.

I don't think this is a bad idea, but I personally don't see the Lore flowing enough in this direction to call it plausible with the current canon.
