Targon/void lore theory: norse mythology/cthulhu mythos connections and ....the Ragnarok
According to my theory targon is loosely based on Asgard(the home of gods in norse mythology). My assumption is based on the following facts : 1)The valkyrie skins of
and
.
2)The dragonslayer
skin .while i am not sure about that ,this skin may be based on sigfried a famous dragonslayer(ring of nibelungen)
3)Zoe is the aspect of the twillight and the messager of targon. For me zoe combines elements of two major norse gods A) Loki (playful attitude , laziness , trickery ).
B) Heimdall.Much like Heimdell zoe is the one that will inform targon(a.k.a Asgard) for the upcoming void invasion( at least from my perspective anyways),or should i say....RAGNAROK!
Ragnarok is basicaly the end of the world in norse mythology where gods fight with their enemies until the are all dead...during Ragnarok the world is plagued by cataclysms or like a friend of mine said "The land may melt, the sea may swell, the sky may fall... but They will come."
4)The golden palace. This can actually may represent two things A)valhalla the hall of the fallen heroes
B)The terrority of gods (which is more likely) in our case the targonian headquarters!
5)Runes/rune wars....runes are very important in norse mythology /culture and liek in our story people beleived that they had magical abilities!
*)the binding of aurelion may be a reference to the binding of fenris...but this is the one i am less sure about.(fenris was not mind controled like aurelion just restrained by a magical ''chain''.However much like aurelion he slowly started to destroy the ''chain'' and during ragnarok he finally broke free and turned against the gods....i can see a twist like that happening in the story at some point!!)
void section
I am sure that most off us know that void creatures are based on cthulhu mythos. After some research i found the dimension and the god that void is propably based. The god is named kaalut and he is a gigantic larva like creature (no wonder why kog'maw beleives that he is his dad) that lives in a nebulous realm(void is nebulous enough i think) with his insectoid servants!...i mean come on most of the void creatures we know are insect like.
Also that god is called the ravenous one......so very very hungry

http://lovecraft.wikia.com/wiki/Kaalut
To conclude.I firmly beleive that void is fully aware of what it is doing..it is not just a primordial force that wants to eat to survive...the laugh that aurelion heared is his story confirms that! The whole void vs targon event can be masterfully used to retcon the current universe so new stories can begin(remember runnetera has more than one continents!) the conflicts of the current lore must be inevitably resolve at some point otherwise the wolrd will feel static and will lose its magic. The void invasion should be the last one in the resolution line!so it may take 2-3 years until that happens!
note : this theory will be updated as soon as zoe story is out....i still have some things to talk about(like ygdrazill and god willow connections) but for now i will wait ....if it is something i missed or misunderstood feel free to tell me..this is an incomplete theory after all!
edit 1 : About targon ----> the mountain itself can be seen as ''bridge'' to the real targonian empire..also zoe talks about rainbows a lot....so a connection with bifrost the rainbow bridge is possible!
- About the void------> there is a possibilty that the leader of the void was once a higher being (s) like the aspects(the real aspects not the avatars) but due to his ravenous hunger for power and control over the universe a group of higher beings banished him in another dimension and then form an alliance so to be sure that he will never escape. They may have lost their bodies in the process as well..thus the need for avatars!
edit 2 : further proof that Ragnarok is on the way and zoe is in fact the one that will bring that message( like heimdall) is provided here :https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2017/10/champion-roadmap-october-2017/#_=_ where we can read the following :change is coming… cataclysmic change. As i already pointed out ragnarok is tied with cataclysms, also we know that during ragnarok ''the stars will fall from the burning sky''...the stars are clearly tied with the targonian avatars that will have to fight and die (fall) in the war with the void!
